LAPD officers shoot the "mistaken identity" pickup truck 102 times during the manhunt for Dorner

The women’s lawyer counted 102 bullet holes in their blue Toyota Tacoma and several more in Hernandez’s hoodie.

Weeks later, memories of the shooting were still evident, with five bullet holes piercing a home’s front door and more in walls and garages that lined the street.

"My guess is that they threw policy out the window and got in trouble," said resident Steve McDonald, whose solar panels sustained bullet damage. "They're lucky they didn't hit each other because there were bullets flying every which way."

About two blocks away and thirty minutes after the women were shot, a Redondo Beach man was fired upon by officers who also mistook him for the wanted Dorner.

glad to see the lapd is hiring the best and the brightest officers available, i mean almost anyone could mistake a light gray truck for a bright blue truck when its sunny outside

NBC4 has learned that eight LAPD officers were involved in the shootout. All of them have been assigned to non-field assignments until "the [police] chief decides otherwise."

So far, their names have not been released and there has been no comment from the Los Angeles District Attorney about pressing charges.

An attorney for the women, Glen Jonas said he’ll let the investigation run its course.

"If the city wants to do it the easy way and get it resolved; if they want to do it for hard way, then we’ll file a lawsuit," he said.

Police said they cannot comment on on-going internal investigations.

But some residents, despite being so close to the gunfire, said they understand the officers’ actions.

"I think they have to be supported through this," said Joanne Arnn. "Yes, it's unfortunate, thank goodness no one here was fatally injured, but it's not a very safe world."

Now that's responsible gun ownership. I swear, the gun owning public is better versed in gun safety than the police are. NYC police hitting innocent bystanders and now this. And they want to take our guns away? Truly pathetic. It should have been a normal investigation, but because he was a cop, every cop has to go nuts and shoot everything in sight and hope they hit their target.


Don't be so hard on these pigs, the police officer in charge got on national TV and stated several times that law enforcement engage in the man hunt "performed flawlessly". The spray & pray technique is always used to hunt minorities, why not one of their own


So out of one hundred-plus rounds fired at the truck's occupants, they were only hit four times? It wasn't even him? OMG, get these guys off the streets. No wonder the crime rate is so high there. I don't care what their excuse is. That is just wrong. Apparently none are NRA members or they would know safe firearm handling. That is just infuriating.

i think he was set up. read this article. the same training officer who he complained about which led to him being fired, is also the one who magically put together that it was "Dorner" killing people....that should be a thread unto itself

Dorner must have had some good dirt on them, for them to be that desperate to silence him. Setting him on fire was a bit harsh as well.

But they had no right to endanger the public like this. Out of control idiots. :(

When she returned the call, the officer told her that he had found pieces of a large-sized police uniform, some ammunition and other items discarded in a dumpster that appeared to belong to an LAPD officer with the last name Dorner.

Teresa or "Terie" Evens - the training officer who Dorner reported for kicking a handcuffed guy - is the one who was reporting her suspicion that Dorner was behind the Quan murder.

Should a cop get the million dollars for doing their job? I think the money should be divided and go to the innocent people the LAPD shot up looking for Dorner.
