Built by the Mayan civilization sometime between the 11th. and 13th. centuries AD, "El Castillo" served as a temple to the god Kukulcan (the Maya name for Quetzalcoatl). It was built with four staircases bordered by ramps, and topped by with a temple. The pyramid is 180 feet long and 100 feet high. Each staircase has 91 steps, making 364 in all the number of days in the year. HERE IS THE FIRST STUDY HOPE IT HELPS Thread: SHABBAT SHALOM! THE LUNAR SHABBAT DEBUNKED! BROKEN DOWN FOR YOU IN 7 PARTS <><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><>><><>><><><><><> THE POPE SHUFFLES VERNAL EQUINOX.THESE ARE OTHER WAYS THAT SATAN DID COME AND CHANGE TIMES AND LAWS Another spring equinox oddity: A rule of the calendar keeps it so the first day of spring is amlost always March 20 or 21—but sometimes on the 19th—MacRobert said. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII established the Gregorian calendar, which most of the world now observes, to account for an equinox inconvenience. If he hadn't established the new calendar, every 128 years the spring equinox would have come a full calendar day earlier—eventually putting Easter in chilly midwinter. "It begins with the fact that there is not an exact number of days in a year," MacRobert said. Before the pope's intervention, the Romans and much of the European world marked time on the Julian calendar. Instituted by Julius Caesar, the old calendar counted exactly 365.25 days per year, averaged over a four-year cycle. Every four years a leap day helped keep things on track. It turns out, however, that there are 365.24219 days in an astronomical "tropical" year—defined as the time it takes the sun, as seen from Earth, to make one complete circuit of the sky. Using the Julian calendar, the fall and spring equinoxes and the seasons were arriving 11 minutes earlier each year. By 1500 the vernal equinox had fallen back to March 11. To fix the problem, the pope decreed that most century years (such as 1700, 1800, and 1900) would not be leap years. But century years divisible by 400, like 2000, would be leap years. Under the Gregorian calendar, the year is 365.2425 days long. "That gets close enough to the true fraction that the seasons don't drift," MacRobert said. With an average duration of 365.2425 days, Gregorian years are now only 27 seconds longer than the length of the tropical year—an error which will allow the gain of one day over a period of about 3,200 years. The first rested purely on the observation of the sun and the moon, the second on observation and reckoning, the third entirely on reckoning. The study of astronomy was largely due to the need of fixing the dates of the festivals. The command (Deut. xvi. 1), "Keep the month of Abib," made it necessary to be acquainted with the position of the sun; and the command, "Also observe themoon and sanctify it," made it necessary to study the phases of the moon. Sanctify the moon? that is not scriptural! BUT FROM THE TALMUD Post-Talmudic Period. The persecutions under Constantius finally decided the patriarch, Hillel II. (330-365), to publish rules for the computation of the calendar, which had hitherto been regarded as a secret science. The political difficulties attendant upon the meetings of the Sanhedrin became so numerous in this period, and the consequent uncertainty of the feast-days was so great, that R. Huna b. Abin made known the following secret of the calendar to Raba in Babylonia : ***Whenever it becomes apparent that the winter will last till the 16th of Nisan, make the year a leap-year without hesitation.*** This unselfish promulgation of the calendar, though it destroyed the hold of the patriarchs on the scattered Judeans, fixed the celebration of the Jewish feasts upon the same day everywhere. Later Jewish writers agree that the calendar was fixed by Hillel II. in the year 670 of the Seleucidan era; that is, 4119 A.M. or 359 C.E. Some, however, as Isaac Israeli, have fixed the date as late as 500. Saadia afterward formulated calendar rules, after having disputed the correctness of the calendar established by the Karaites. That there is a slight error in the Jewish calendar—due to inaccuracies in the length of both the lunar and the solar years upon which it is based—has been asserted by a number of writers. That is an interesting practice in itself. Rabbinical Judaism uses the principle of looking to the first conjunctive moon that occurs in proximity to the vernal equinox, whereas the Karaite disclaim the equinox altogether with their oral law that the first sighted sliver new moon occurring after the discovered ripening of condition of the Aviv Barley in the land of Israel is the beginning of the new year. The physical reality of creation however is that the ripening of barley is but a consequence of the specific ratio of dark and light hours of sun and is itself a sign of the effect of the equinox, rather than the sign of the new biblical year. However the unreliability of such as sign clearly arises when there is severe famine, severe drought and grain devastation as has been recorded in biblical history. The fact that both the Pharisees and the Sadducees strongly deny the equinox as a rule in favour of the “new moon” calendar contrary to the word of Moses, and they deny that Yahushua is the authentic Messiah of Israel, should speak volumes to those returning to their biblical Hebraic roots of the faith today. Not only that, but we also have the Essenes (via the Dead Sea scrolls) to thank for their independent testimony that the biblical calendar taught by Moses was defined by the vernal equinox, and that the practice of adding a 13th month intercalation in the Rabbinical / Sadducean calendars was never the practice of the law of Moses. That in the last century, contemporary Historical Christianity together with Rabbinical Judaism have sought to keep the archaeological information discovered in the Qumran caves secret under lock and key for more than 60 years under the pretence that they needed to be studied and so could not be revealed to the greater public is today regarded as the greatest religious controversy of the modern era. At this time it is not know what Qumran materials still remain under the lock and key and yet kept secret… However, despite the deliberate theological avoidance of the equinox by Judaism in the calculation of their religious calendar, there yet even appears to be hints even from within the Talmud that point to the fact that the deliberate anti-equinox theology has not completely erased all traces concerning an equinox based calendar."
