You can still do the smileys they work, you just can't see them, but if you type them they work.

You can go back to your old posts, quote them and see the code and still use the smileys!

I couldn't agree more lol. I like GLP mostly for the real reports and news that you don't see elsewhere. It's just annoying to see tons of AC's make up bullshit and see it get pinned. Often the posters who create these threads are very careful to make sure that they have a unique ID. I.e. no other posts. This applies for all types of events not just meteors.
