Fire event cover-up - a Safety culture you can count on - to FUKUSHIMA you
More on the fire.... Fire!!! We learned something new from the inspection report that was released on 2/14 that Brian mentioned in his post below. There was another electrical fire in a load center at Ft.Calhoun last spring. Only this time it didn't cause a red condition like the one in 2011 nor was an event notice issued. Why didn't that happen and why weren't we informed of this?
See the relevant paragraph from that report which follows. It's written in NRC speak, so it isn't easy to understand.
ďThe electrical relay failure involved an 86B/SIAS relay that failed in April of 2012 (CR-2012-02219) and the maintenance rule review was not performed until October 24, 2012, with the determination that itís a(1) performance criteria had been exceeded (CR 2012-16318). The load center failure involved a fire in load center MCC-3B3, which was de-energized on May 11, 2012, (CR 2012-04015) and the maintenance rule review was not performed until October 25, 2012, with the determination that itís a(1) performance criteria had been exceeded (CR 2012-16450).Ē
