So if every nation is indebted to another, and this is the way international nations debt has been explained to me, why not just cancel all the debts and start from zero.

None of my financial friends can give me an answer as to why not, but they are sure quick to say this nation owes this nation, etc, etc.

Didn't this event transpire about 24 hours before the thread began. Feels like deja vue or however you spell it. Always nice to have a few posts though, so as not to miss anything.

The entire post WWII financial system (Bretton Woods) is based on the premise that the Eurosavages will start another world war if they are not sufficient bribed.

The USA is the slave who works to pay this bribe, through taxation, corruption and running total war for the old worlds colonial interests.

The largest "debt" is what the USA owes to the world in addition to the work product it has already put out. Ridiculous, but the Euroes feel they are owed since the Americans have that big, resource rich continent that can not be invaded.

So the threat is if the debt is repudiated, the overfed pampered Euros will go all sumo on each other. And the rest of the world will pay for it with much more blood and treasure than the simple bribe of the existing debt driven banking system.
