TKI is one of the busiest growing airports in suburban Dallas and is critical for general aviation and executive air traffic in the area. How sad to think they would close it as well as some of the other destinations where there is regular airline service. I see this as more of a threat and bargaining measure from the FCC to get a better allocation of funds, and if this is their motive, I say yes, play ball with congress to get it.

None of this is going to happen. This could have started the first day of the year and we wouldn't notice a damn thing. The major cuts that come from sequester come down the road 3 years or more. This gives congress and the dictator (Oxymoron? I guess not if congress power is limited enough as to actually do nothing.) plenty of time to either fix the problem or kick the can down the road a bit more.

I'm trying to figure this out. So the feds are saying they are going to close down towers and pull federal air traffic controllers out? Fine, leave it up to the states to hire and staff whatever towers they want. There are plenty of retired military guys who served as controllers that are probably looking for jobs right now.

When Reagan busted up the air traffic controllers union back in 1981, I had a friend who was working as a hotel security guard for minimum wage. He had had been a controller in the Air Force. He walked right out of a flunky security job and back into the tower tripling his salary overnight.

If you are talking about TSA...we don't need those fools frisking children and senior citizens. I'm pretty sure passengers will never let another plane be taken over by terrorists with burning tennis shoes or box cutters again.
