You saw the thread title, what made you click on it ? was it interest in something you have considered ? was it just because it disgusted you that you had to have your say ?
I would have thought since you know how to live your life in full that this kind of thing wouldn't worry your perfect little self.

I think we have every right to discuss yet one more example of a trend that some of us find disturbing.

Every shameful thing has become mainstream and even touted as empowering. Looking around me today, you'd think the entire purpose of the feminist movement was so that women could wear g-strings and hump poles.

The behavior of stupid women affects all women.

Ask any nice girl what it's like trying to date in this current environment that's been poisoned by foolish women who have no respect for themselves.

Haven't you noticed the sharp rise in misogyny? More and more men have come to loathe and despise women, and even the good women who don't deserve it are feeling the brunt of it.

Good women have every right to be upset about this.

This post actually made me get a profile!! :) The problem with the original post is that "pole dancing" as advertised on Groupon has little or nothing to do with porn. Today's pole dance is about art and athleticism. It is also about sisterhood and friendship, at least here in Texas. I started pole when my first daughter was 10 months old. My husband and I met doing West Coast Swing, and it had been a very important part of both of our lives. However, with a little one at home and no babysitter, our only option was to trade out who's night it was to get to go dance. It seemed to me, though, that wasn't a great idea for me as a new wife to be in the arms of many different men, out by myself. I tried pole, and it was so much better of an environment -- all female. Also, I pole at studios and at home, not in a club.

My involvement in pole helped me get past some depression issues, and discover new self confidence. I've also seen my body changed, sculpted, and I developed strength and abilities I never thought I would have. I have participated in multiple competitions, even taking home the title in one. While you may have something sordid in mind when you think of a pole competition, you are wrong. Themes from some of the comp's I've been to include a breast cancer survivor, a marriage proposal, a suicide, a Perot clown (complete with invisible box!), and a grieving military widow.

The women involved in pole come from many different walks of life. While there are a few women who work in strip clubs, most are just "regular women". I even know one pole'r that is the wife of a pastor. I pole'd some while I was pregnant with my son, and used my pole during labor. It was fabulous! It never got tired and never had to go to the bathroom. ;)

I think what the groupon may be alerting you to is your visions of pornography and twisted, abusive sex. All those dark descriptions you made have nothing to do with reality. Perhaps you should take groupon up on the offer to experience real pole. And maybe address your own fantasies/fears about porn, sex slaves and the like...
