Real Women Competing With Porn Stars


Overconsumption of porn is having unintended consequences.

Once upon a time men were hesitant to purchase pornography. Walk into an adult bookstore or movie house? Ring up a purchase with the girl at the counter? Way too embarrassing for most. But now internet porn is easily available in the anonymity of home. It’s even free. Porn’s gone mainstream: Who doesn’t do it anymore?

But porntopia has an unexpected downside. Standards of sexiness are growing narrower (as I’ve previously discussed). Some men expect their partners to act like porn stars. Sometimes both. Everyone ends up disappointed.

“Young men and women are indeed being taught what sex is, how it looks, what its etiquette and expectations are, by pornographic training,” commented Naomi Wolf after her lecture tours of college campuses, “and this is having a huge effect on how they interact.”

In sum: women are now expected to behave like actresses in porn flicks. Emphasis on “actress.” Even porn stars don’t behave the same way at home. And how do the actresses act? It’s male fantasy: It’s all about the guy.

Pamela Paul found something similar in her research for Pornified:

Among men who overconsume real women are now expected to: Howl and moan with delight at the sight of the male member, or in anticipation of oral sex. They must enthusiastically swallow, let their boyfriends ejaculate on their faces and bodies, or maybe be peed upon. Suggesting an interest in lesbianism is always good. And through it all, they’re expected to have quick, easy orgasms. Ideally without much foreplay.

Some recognize the problem. A man named Harrison stated,

I think that a guy’s expectations of his partner might be affected by the images he sees in porn. People’s expectations of their partner’s sexual performance or of what their partners might be willing to do might be unrealistic.

A 2004 Elle-MSNBC.com poll found that 35% of men felt sex with real woman had become less arousing. Twenty percent said the real thing couldn’t compete with virtual sex.

If women want to compete, they’ll need to become actresses, too. Not so much fun for them.

Women who bed these men end up feeling empty and unsatisfied. After watching porn with her boyfriend, a woman named Cara observed,

The women were all fake. No intimacy, nothing sensual.” Relating what she saw to real life she continued, “Even when he and I were intimate, the sex wasn’t intimate.

Perhaps this is what happens when sex objects have sex, and not flesh and blood human beings.

Distracted by candy, they both end up missing something more nourishing and substantive. They miss out on the deep, connected intimacy that brings so much meaning to relationship. Soul needs.

Why act in ways that leave us empty and spiritually wanting? Is he really that into you to make it worth it? The focus on his pleasure, only, suggests he is not.

i don´t like the road society is taking regarding our sex lives, too.
pole dancing can be a really good workout for the whole body, but you can get injured easily, so besides the porn-star-mentality coming with it, i wouldn´t recommend trying it to the average woman. most of them get a pole for at home to practice, and neck injuries and stuff are very common.

Why is it wrong for a woman to be sexy?!

Sometimes I watch this show called "Positive Living" and a few days ago they had a segment on pole dance training. Apparently when the body goes thru these kind of movements, it activates neural pathways in the brain that can greatly raise a woman's self-esteem and can be very beneficial in a relationship.

They called it "Mirror Neurons"... they said it was very good for the mind and the body, because you exercise in a way that the body doesn't normally move in normal day-to-day activity.

So let me just ask, what do you think gives you the right to tell women what they can or can't do?

I was in marketing for eons. Within that arena, they will say anything to sell a product, and skew data to make it believeable. Don't believe promo ads of anything.

I'm not telling them what they can or cannot do. As a woman, I am showing them what I see, and others see, that they have done and continue to do and exactly how that affects what they will be doing in the future and how that will fail for them emotionally and the couples relationship.

As a man's needs for sex are hardwired, women's needs for intimacy are hardwired. This movement of becoming pornified is in direct opposition of achieving both of their desires. What will then happen is the relationship, if you could call it that, fails. She's unhappy and he's scratching his head thinking he's done everything to please her (in his mind that's sex) however he fails to understand that is not what she's hardwired to achieve. Sex should be the result of the woman feeling the intimacy of the relationship. In a porn relationship, there is no intimacy. There is just sex. It fails for the woman, and then the man because it fails for the woman. It's a dysfunctional relationship, scientifically and psychologically speaking.

Women have always banded together. Women can even bond deeper than male related bonds.

Men generally compete, struggle or kill each other. Women are hard-wired differently.

"They" know this. So know they've been successfully driving a wedge between the female bonds. Through sexualizing and pornifying, women are competing with each other for men and attention.

Women have it in them to rise above this degradation. Whereas men have proven through history for thousands of years, they are unable to lead without destruction.

Women are the last hope to maintain civility and build something...instead of destroy.
