Valid point.
But, think of it this way: NASA put a man on the moon. They have sent probes into deep space. They have explored the surface of Mars. They can watch the intricacies of the the surface of the sun. They have created some of the highest resolution cameras on the planet capable of looking at the other end of the Universe.
They can see and track a 40,000 ton space rock called DA14.
But....they can't see, track, or protect earth from a 10,000 ton disaster?
Nope, not buying it.
Something doesn't add up.

I know how to fly an apollo command module to the moon, but finding and tracking ALL 15 meter sized asteroids is a completely unrelated and more difficult matter. It is as "difficult" as landing on the moon was "difficult" before it was done. Defeatist attitudes are for the politically-correct hacks riding the coattails of the giants before them, all at the expense and security of the taxpayer.
