spider decision help me!
spider has made big web on stairs, stretching right across and between two steps in the past week.

i've been jumping over the stairs to avoid him.

I've seen him, when i walk on the stairs he comes out in the open.

i want to vaccuum stairs now

what to do about spider and web?

feels a bit mean to destroy his home.

but on the other hand he might web over the whole staircase.

They can build a new web in a couple hours.

They don't LIKE it, but it isn't much of an inconvenience for them to be moved.

Have you discussed your plans with the spider to see what an appropriate thing to do is? From my experience, spiders are very understanding. Not like those cockroaches. They don't believe nothin you say! Keep me posted!

you've never been told that if you want to live and thrive, let the spider run alive? If you kill one, they wait till you're asleep then all its relatives take their revenge.

Hence my hesitation to destroy his web.hiding

Is he/she only hanging in the web trying to get some insects to feed him/her?

You can destroy the web but in a few hours there will be a new one...

The spider is much smaller and more afraid than you...

If the spider disturbs you, just catch the animal in a glass and bring him outside...hf

Scoop up the spider with a newspaper and a bowl or jar, and take the spider outdoors, or to a covered patio or garden room.

i'm not afraid of him at all, and he leaves the web and goes to and from the other stairs. He's actually quite sweet. If it wasn't "dirty" to have a massive web on the stairs, I would leave him there.

If only he had made the web on the wall or ceiling, I would let him stay there.

Why don't you address the problem directly with the spider, just ask him or her.

Let me know what she says!

The web is not the spider's "home", just a temporary bug snare. Once spider is relocated, it will spin another one.

If you really want to make spider happy, situate him or her near an outdoor porch light.

I have a huge spider living in my garage. It has woven like a cocoon and I can see it sitting in there. Sometimes when I open the dorr I can see it runing across the floor and into his cocoon. I just can't kill it, but I'm thinking of taking up a monthly rent.

Unless it's a dangerous spider, just relocate the spider. Remember they kill flies. Which is a good thing.

Who decides what's "dirty"? Making a web is a natural thing for a spider. Is cleaning houses for humans too?

I'm not sure...scratching

Re: spider decision help me!
if you allow the spider to remain unmolested and breed, the next generation will feel a sense of entitlement. They will slowly take over your whole home, gradually forcing you into a smaller and smaller area. You must work more just to afford a new home. And since you have less time to clean, other bugs will arrive, feeding off your scraps. Which, in turn, is feeding the spiders, who breed more.

When you finally escape the devastated area, eventually another group of spiders will show up and it begins again.

The cycle of dependency continues...

So, in short, control your borders, eliminate the spider, and STOP THE MADNESS!

Re: spider decision help me!
I once rented a cabin in the Adirondack mountains. I woke up during the middle of the night to find two very large spiders descending to each of the separated twin beds.
I don't believe that their dinner plans included insects.
