My dad has always said a gal. of gas, a gal. of milk, a pack of cigarettes, and a man's haircut have cost the same. That was true years ago and pretty close now. The haircut is out of sync, but the other 3 aren't. He's 80 now.

If milk is 4, and I'm about to go grocery shopping, i go every two weeks, and I don't smoke anymore but cigs are about 50/carton so 5 bucks a pack, but hair cuts are 8 for child and 10-12 for adult around here...

i live in chicago area where inflatio is king & Walmart dictates the market cost on food

Milk @ Walmart is $1.89
therefore milk at all other stores is only $2.20

You are closer to the dairys than I am and our milk is $3.89 a gal. Plus, I'm out in the sticks, so the trucks have to drive farther. Trucking companies are adding fuel surcharges to deliveries out here now. So no, it's not BS.

Here we buy 3 bags of milk (about 4 litres/1 gallon) and it is almost $5. I don't look forward to it going up. My sister, she only buys organic milk for her daughter and it is $8 for 4 litres. Soon enough that will be the average cost for regular milk,....

Last week whole milk was 3.29 per gallon at Aldi, this week it was 2.49 per gallon at Aldi.
