NASCAR crash what do we have - reduced to the absurdist level you have patrons paying (with credit) to watch other people drive expensive machines (paid for with and amalgamation of credit and deferred credit sponsorships - digression our elected officials should have to wear "nascar" like sponsorship endorsements and branding) REALLY FAST and LOUDLY REVVIN' literally AROUND a track - figuratively going NOWHERE.

This represents the state of our eCONomy - we are a nation of speculating spectators produce nothing other than financialization of leased experiences, psuedo-events and commodities so that there appears to be movement and velocity to the eCONomy but it is literally circling the drain and going NOWHERE.

There is, as will happen, an accident and who get hurts? The sponsors? No. The driver's, it appears miraculously in this case, No. The patron's and spectators? BINGO.

This is the morbido instinct where we are paying to see what we hope is the accidental destruction of others but the price of our ticket includes us in that unlucky lottery of collateral damage and "not-so-innocent-bystanders".

Just as with the eCONomy - the top of the pyramid is somehow magically insulated from the damage sustained by the base. If anyone is going to get hurt it is the hoi polloi time and time again and we keep PAYING for this privilege with our time and effort (value) until we run out of valuables to trade and are left with only our life which is unceremoniously extinguished without a second thought.

Re: The cruise ship in the news last week - what was it's name? TRIUMPH. And what did it do? It limped back to port in anything BUT triumph. Once again it was filled (to the brim) with people so desperate for relief from the drudgery and spiritual vacuum of their ordinary lives and also so limited in imagination as to find a one or two week floating vomitorium (eat and purge) actually an attractive trade for their time and efforts and, of course, credit.

So all abroad (I guess that's really more appropriate for a train) on this ship of fools where you get all stick and no carrot - afterall before you were a potential customer and now that you've handed over your consent (and credit) you are well and truly fucked.

So, were the CEO and Shareholders at all put out or even remotely inconvenienced by the experience of those aboard the Triumph? No. Who got the short end of the stick? The passengers.

The Triumph represents our current disfunctional eCONomy - it floats (on a sea of leverage) but has no propulsion and goes nowhere - it just wanders blown by the winds of misfortune and creditors while those aboard are literally on their own. What about the captain? Was he even on board? Did the CEO have to poop in a bag? What about the promised non-stop buffet? As HST said - you bought the ticket now take the fucking RIDE!

The wheels are not about to come off the economy - like the tires in the NASCAR crash, they came off awhile ago - we are now flying through space and time has dialated as it so often does for those who have experienced a real car crash -the stutter start flicker of images in super slo-mo before your surprised eyes as it suddenly registers "oh my god this is happening - this is what its like to be in a crash"

The end result is hidden in plain sight: our american century is ending not with a bang but the slightest of whimpers a mere quick intake of breathe a nano-second before impact and instantaneous oblivion...

yea i met a guy in one of the lower nascar leagues, below truck series, track was out in nj. i see your point though, the white car either tried to ram him out of the way or was trying to get around n didnt mean to hit him. if you are really talking about the bright yellow car watch the video again. you can see the car slides right in front of him he had no where to go
