Looks are in the eye of the beholder. So while someone might be pretty for another person, may be ugly for another person.

With all the medical advancement, people who would have been dead 100 years ago because of genetic flaw now get to pass down their genes. So that will create problems in the future. (Which would get corrected if the shit hits the fan and we were set back 1,000 years back.) People have different taste in looks, but what society considers not as attractive due have a huge disadvantage in life, but at the same time it requires more brains to survive, so they can get their genes passed down more and have smarter children.
