Too many people involved, doctor, hospital, etc for that. Also, the procedure comes a month after the initial procedure so I don't think that would work. Otherwise, it's a good idea though. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 30981074 United States 02/23/2013 07:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would look at doing this in another country. We have the highest cost of medical care. Quoting: SlimExponent Even if I were willing to entertain having eye surgery in Thailand, you can not fly when you have this oil in your eye since it changes pressure at different altitudes and the result could be blindness. When you wake up from the surgery they already have a band around your arm you are supposed to wear until the bubble is removed that says you can not fly and no driving to different altitudes and then a bunch of messages from EMT's to not administer you various drugs which could also result in blindness. |

SplittybusMama User ID: 29108441 United States 02/23/2013 08:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ah, sorry to hear of your troubles. My hubby has had numerous retinal detachments in both eyes, not from Diabetes, but from a post-virus autoimmune disorder he later developed. He had the oil in for a month before it was removed, and the oil replaced with saline. The saline was resorbed and replaced with the body's own vitreous. Maybe you could ask that saline be put in at the start so no need to remove anything later? Just a thought....God's blessing and healing be upon you brother! |

Quoting: SplittybusMama 29108441 Unfortunately, I've already had two attempts using gas in the past month so the oil is a necessity at this point. Was your husband able to see through the oil at all? Was it opaque, translucent, transparent? Thanks! |

He also said there were "bubbles" in it that would move around as he moved his eyes, like "floaties" but more so. The doc would only do one eye at a time for this reason. Quoting: SplittybusMama 29108441 Ughh. I might have to live with that for several months until I can get insurance again. |
