Oh yes, being a Roman soldier had it's benefits too I'm sure. I will just say, your life may be better for it but that comes with a steep price. Your selling your soul to Babylon and any success you enjoy will be at the suffering of the empire's many enemies... or do you believe they are all the "bad guys"? |

Navy? What is it you boys actually do besides jump when the alarm rings and bunk crammed together like sardines? | COINTELPRO Agent User ID: 31620383 02/23/2013 07:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would think, simply by virtue of being here, any of us who are veterans probably aren't 'goosesteppers.' My experience in the Army wasn't of the 'goose stepping' variety, but then again, I was in PSYOP, so we worked closely with Civil Affairs and sometimes Special Forces. Direct Action was not really our job description... I didn't witness any purposeful 'Nazi' BS. Stupidity? Yes, of course, but that's everywhere. So you're a "smart" goose stepper. But a goose stepper nonetheless. And you're apparently a TROLL who sucks at his chosen pastime. You presume to judge me based on several paragraphs I've typed on a conspiracy theory forum? I served, like many, many others. I am proud of it, and look back upon those days fondly. In the grand scheme of thing military, I was nothing. But I'm still glad I did it. You don't have to like the military. That's a freedom you still have because of the people who protect you, whether you want or like that protection. Do I agree with all of US foreign policy decisions, especially as of late? That would be a resounding 'NO!' Do I think the human race is prone to repeat its mistakes? Yes! But part of being a professional soldier means doing your job, even if you don't like it. Contrary to your opinion, soldiers can and do think I even went as far to take an article 15 when I wouldn't follow what I viewed to be an illegal order. So, the basic thrust of what I'm saying is this: if one has morals and adheres to said morals, NO ONE can take them away, as long as you're willing to pay the price that comes with standing for what you believe in. As for the OP, I'm not sure whether he's signed up or not. I gave OP an honest opinion, and I'm sure he or she is intelligent enough to make that decision. I'm not trying to talk OP into doing anything or not doing anything. I shouldn't have to - the military doesn't need people who can't make decisions for themselves. I simply related a bit of information as to what to expect from the military lifestyle, and advised them to remain focused on the '50 meter target.' End of story. Expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize... |

I have no idea what the IT relevant rating does, but my guess is they have BADLY outdated technology that you won't even get to touch mostly. Count on pushing a mop for your first four years basically. I was an AT, and my NEC was 6704 - CASS operator/maintainer. CASS stands for "Consolidated Automated Support System" which is an automated electronics test system that consists of a MicroVAX III (oooo so HIGH TECH!!!) with testing apparatii based on memory mapped I/O peripherals. The shit is a joke, and they are desperately trying to replace it since it cannot live to its overhyped promise. BTW, this is basically the second best rating/NEC next to nuke (I did not want to take the nuke rating). The Navy is full of mosterous sociopaths, and count on getting blackballed if you are taller than your supervisor, have a last name/ethnicity he doesn't like, have to compete with some chick he is getting sucked off by, etc etc. Seen it all --- when you get "blackballed" they will have people make shit up on you so that you get 'written up' and/or send you TAD in perpetuity. If you REALLY want to go military/military like for technical related stuff, I'd suggest the USAF or Coast Guard. You must have had a bad experience.....I have to disagree with your statements Nope, my experience was pretty typical! Why do you think they have such a retention problem? If the OP is a chick, then get out by any means necessary - fake sickness, get pregnant, cut off your leg, or whatever. Chicks are ruined by military service, and never recover to be decent babes again. If you're a dude, what's in it for you? Do you get laid? The money sucks balls, so that's not a reason. Perhaps you can make contacts, or go to some country that you can establish a home in, or find a girl. Otherwise, think long and hard - military will change you, and not always the way you wish. There's the thing about being property of the US, rather than your own man. And the shots - who knows what the fuck they will do to you. The DOD has not yet settled, or even agreed with the Agent Orange damage from back in the 1970's. Think long and hard......... |
