Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14350333 Is that how you think? Trust me, i served, and that has nothing to do with it...we live, mature and learn what is actually happening as we get older. fuck you homo - you were a craven fag when you volunteered to kill kids and suck dick and remain that way to this day or your're a shill makes no difference. |

BUT, there is a most amazing experience awaiting us on the other end of the finish-line. The idea being, once we can handle it all down here, then we can live and explore eternally, responsibly, because we know what not to do, and not be resentful about being responsible, so we don't start a polarity domino effect in the other realms of existence." LOL. You won't be making rank like that in your first enlistment, so no rent until your second time around. I hope you like either 1) paying for rent out of pocket (that is what I did), or 2) living off the boat even when it is in homeport, which basically means having no social life and no pussy for 4 years. Don't buy into the recruiter hype of "dude they give you $2000/month for BAH LOL" shit. I bet the shills ITT are recruiters--- they sure as hell sound like it. You're better off doing CE/EE at a cheap state school for four years if you like technical stuff. U r an idiot, my son is married and gets the money for that reason. It is true! GLP TARD |

I did 9 years in the navy. Overall it was a great experience. There were challenges though. Some people really enjoyed sea duty. I thought it sucked. That is ultimately what caused me to leave. I was in electronics repair and make a living doing that now. The navy has the best technical schools hands down. I can also say getting an EE degree at a community college would serve you well. The navy definitely helped me out in life. Good luck! |

| CE1 ***** User ID: 1566563 02/24/2013 05:00 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would think, simply by virtue of being here, any of us who are veterans probably aren't 'goosesteppers.' My experience in the Army wasn't of the 'goose stepping' variety, but then again, I was in PSYOP, so we worked closely with Civil Affairs and sometimes Special Forces. Direct Action was not really our job description... I didn't witness any purposeful 'Nazi' BS. Stupidity? Yes, of course, but that's everywhere. So you're a "smart" goose stepper. But a goose stepper nonetheless. And you're apparently a TROLL who sucks at his chosen pastime. You presume to judge me based on several paragraphs I've typed on a conspiracy theory forum? I served, like many, many others. I am proud of it, and look back upon those days fondly. In the grand scheme of thing military, I was nothing. But I'm still glad I did it. You don't have to like the military. That's a freedom you still have because of the people who protect you, whether you want or like that protection. Do I agree with all of US foreign policy decisions, especially as of late? That would be a resounding 'NO!' Do I think the human race is prone to repeat its mistakes? Yes! But part of being a professional soldier means doing your job, even if you don't like it. Contrary to your opinion, soldiers can and do think I even went as far to take an article 15 when I wouldn't follow what I viewed to be an illegal order. So, the basic thrust of what I'm saying is this: if one has morals and adheres to said morals, NO ONE can take them away, as long as you're willing to pay the price that comes with standing for what you believe in. As for the OP, I'm not sure whether he's signed up or not. I gave OP an honest opinion, and I'm sure he or she is intelligent enough to make that decision. I'm not trying to talk OP into doing anything or not doing anything. I shouldn't have to - the military doesn't need people who can't make decisions for themselves. I simply related a bit of information as to what to expect from the military lifestyle, and advised them to remain focused on the '50 meter target.' End of story I miss being in the Navy on active duty as I was very blessed and hope I left an impression. We should have a grand Naval Reunion (or Union) |

Sooo, I appreciate the advice everyone. But apparently the only group that wants me is A.A. Even GLP wants $10 a month out of me. So. I'm a little heart broken.... I scored an 82 on the ASVAB and I'm in great shape, hell, I just lost my job as a Pool Tech and I go to the gym 3x a week - I'm.... just in shock. I was literally ushered out of the door as soon as he read that I had a Felony Drug Arrest for Xanax in 2003. I said "But I completed a pre-trial-diversion program!" and he said: "In the eyes of the military an arrest is the same thing as a conviction. We could get you a waiver for ANY OTHER FELONY (battery, robbery, theft) but there is NO WAIVER FOR A DRUG ARREST. The end. |
