I agree!!!! Very well said OP. Thank you.

I love the simplicity of the tasks that are involved in gardening... even just turning over the earth in a new garden bed is pleasurable in it's own way.

I've always thought there is something spiritual about gardening - almost like the task of working the earth, planting the seed, and then nurturing it is a microcosm of what God does with us. Thank you :-)
 Quoting: Rising Son

That's so true, but we have also to uproot the weeds. Looks like most of us are doing nothing about that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35022781

Yes, that's a good point. However, this is where the literal and figurative part ways. To weed a garden, you simply pull out the weed and discard it. To uproot a human weed, you must change the person from a weed to something of substance. So the question becomes what is the best way to change the people who are the weeds of our society? I would say to lead by example - show the weeds how much greener the grass is on the other side of the fence of morality, and convince them to change their ways. Just thinking out loud...

Beautifully said OP,

Sometimes we forget to live and just be, we become so mechanical. I've been working non stop for the last 20 years and have been recently been laid off but it's been a blessing. I can get up in the morning and have a nice walk with my dog. Just walking in nature seeing/feeling/being/breathing/enjoying. Bliss!

So how much has this esoteric nonsence actually saved a life? You may get a warm, fuzzy feeling about donating used underwear and bras that can fit a heffer.

But have you actually made a differnce in a life or someone?

Frack, when I was going to University, a lady asked me...I see you with your books every morning ( I worked at a convenience store at the time), and she stated "I am old ( she was, about 35 at the time) and said she always wanted to go to University. We chatted for thirty minutes (at 6 am) told her do not be afraid, U Of L is a big campus, everyone hides the map of the campus...etc. Suffice is to say, she say me several years later, stated she took my advice...and her life is totally changed....

I paid nothing for a cheap esoteric book, just told her from my heart.

and the human critters at the freeway off ramps, my left over lunch is boxed up and gieven to them...evan a small amount of food make them happy

What makes you think it goes to charity? Do you think people will be honest as you and not spend the money themselves without giving them to those in need? If it's just for the sake of helping and makes you happy then it's your character and nothing more.

The "you get what you give" mantra is right but it differs in different examples. For example some take advantage on other peoples' weakness and still get what they want. They may pay for their bad doings but remember bad things happen to all of us. There is no justice or karma on that matter.

Myself, when someone is out side of a food joint and they ask for money. I say "how bought I buy you a meal?"

$5 bucks is nothing to me. My payback is a smile and a meaningful THANK YOU.

Or seeing beggars outside a store. I buy them food, have a separate bag, and say. " I hope you have a full belly for a day"

Better than giving cash...I even buy a cheap can opener for cans of meat!

Geez, i grew up hungry...I will never forget that

People are looking for fun these days, not for values. The essence of evil rests in its meaninglessness and fun is meaningless.

Why is being evil so fun?
I mean we are all human beings, with traits of both good and evil. How come it's fun to be evil sometimes? How come we laugh at people less fortunate? How come we laugh at people who have little or no physical beauty? How come we laugh at the handicapped? How come we laugh at others who are in a bad predicament in life? Where does the joy come from? Is it just that people have such low self-esteems of themselves that they have to laugh at others to raise them?
