Qi Gong: Ancient Chinese Healing for the 21st Century! How many use it? Will it replace medication in the US?

I feel this type of healing art will replace many aspects of Western medicine. How many use it for pain relief and other health problems? Will Obama-care cause people to search for cheaper healing methods? I hope it does in order for people to realize they can heal themselves.

Has anyone every been to the Jeff Primack's Qi Gong Healing course? He is coming to my home town soon to share his knowledge on Food Healing as well as normal Qi Gong movements that build the bodies electrical current.

You think bear bile and tiger penis will do the trick do you. How about fetus soup and gallbadders.

Savages.

Indian medicine was the true plant based medicine. Remember it has to grow where you live.

What is Qigong?
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.

[link to nqa.org]

I used qi qong style movements daily to recover from a herniated disc/pinched nerve/muscle degeneration

Those slow stretch exercises are good for recovering from that kind of injury, as it doesnt stress your body but still provides a workout

This is great info. I love hearing from others who practice this healing art. How long have you been injured and how much have you recovered? Do you use the laogong point to pass the energy directly into you or others. Do you work with any other energy method of healing? I also have spine problems and that is why I started looking into other types of medicine since Western medicine is about surgery, metal rods and pain pills. They have no concern about healing the body.

Ah well that is why I specified qi qong style movements, not qi qong itself. I didnt follow any particular system, only did what intuitively felt right, using the same kind of movements, such as tai chi style movements and qi qong stretches.

So leaving aside the esoteric value of such systems, on a purely physiological basis it is a good recovery exercise which I've seen specifically recommended for pinch nerve injuries heh

This was over the course of last summer

I used to qigong on the reg. It depends what kind you do, but the stuff I learned from my sifu (teacher) was fantastic. I haven't had the flu in 15 years. It's not like it's some magical mystical mystery, either. It (and/or taiji) increases white blood cell counts--look it up. Or don't. I don't give a fuck.

Re: Qi Gong: Ancient Chinese Healing for the 21st Century! How many use it? Will it replace medication in the US?
I learned in China decades ago.

The Middle Pillar Exercise (Western Magick) is also a chi kung.

There is a specific internal Qigong (I use both most common English spellings when writing) that eventually empowers the user with control over the internal chemistry set of that human. Don't ask which one.

There are any number of chi kungs, some quite specific in use and purpose.

IF anybody is interested you don't have to go to somebody's seminar.

Get This Book:

[link to www.amazon.com]

It is the single most comprehensive collection in English.
And, btw, that chi kung I mentioned leading to control of the internal chemistry set is in there.....

Many qigongs in Asia are presented with little fanfare.
Simple step by step directions.
The results, some of which can be quite spectacular, are left to the practitioner to find for self....

The best teachers don't say much.
Their directions are simple and direct.
The results true for those who continue....

I began exercising the Falun Gong method some years back.

Stretching is good for your entire body and spirit.

QiGong and Falun Gong are very similar movements but with Falun it teaches you independence and to brings power into your soul. This is why China hates Falun Gong and punishes those that partake of it.

In China you are only to be one working part of a huge clock, not to think or feel or to be different and not to be more special than the next cog in the wheel.
Falun Gong brightens your own spirit and lets you have some control over your thoughts and feelings.

When I heard how China was hurting falun'ers that is when I picked the Falun way over the QiGong way.

Both have stretching benefits but only one feeds your individual spirit.

You can search online for Falun Gong and find free lessons.

Others charge for their QiGong, which should tell you right there which one you should study.

Sounds like a good exercise plan, such as yoga. It's a good preventative measure, but no more than that.

I learned some valuable Qigong in Taiwan (Taichung).

There was a specific malady, classed as a blood cancer....

An internal chi kung technique I learned there did better than back that thing into a corner.

Well like I mentioned above, in my personal experience, from a purely physiological perspective, it worked great as physiotherapy for recovering from a spinal injury that caused massive muscle degeneration.

That was not preventive

This internal chi kung was/is just that.

Internal.

No outward physical movements.

Internal.

And I specifically noted Taiwan as that is the country of origin your post indicates.

I should add....

My penchant for martial arts, so-called magick, looking behind the veils of what passes for, "reality," did lead me to some precious things there...

And one I deem, as noted, an actual life-extender.
I did not say life-saver... as we are born dying and one day the deed is finally done...

But a definite life-extender, a boon in living a higher quality of life than would have been otherwise.

I began exercising the Falun Gong method some years back.

Stretching is good for your entire body and spirit.

Thank you for the info on Falun Gong. This is one of the main reason I made this post. It seems people in the West are the most brainwashed when it comes to healing the body, mind and soul. It still amazes me to drive by a doctors office or pharmacy and watch people waiting in line for another pill that never works. A Pill is not meant to heal.

I have also noticed this thread seems not to be important to people on GLP. Most would rather stay afraid and paranoid about things that mean nothing to them personally.

Most shy away from anything they are not told by the system that is in charge. By simply learning something that isn't mainstream will create a new life. Everyone talks about being fat, tired, bored yet they never want to try new ways to heal the body. Thanks for telling me about Falun Gong. I have heard of it but never tried to study it.

Peace

Interview with Li Hongzhi

On April 26, Erping Zhang, a close associate of Li Hongzhi, the mysterious leader of the Falun Gong religious movement, called TIME in New York to say that major events were transpiring in Beijing. "It looks as though quite a few people have shown up," he said. When we asked how many, he guessed that it might be 10,000. "But this is getting bigger," he said. "They are planning to go to the government offices." As it turned out, Zhang was correct. At least 10,000 Falun Gong members gathered in front of Zhongnanhai, the seat of China's government, to demand recognition from authorities and freedom to practice their beliefs. The demonstration appeared to indicate that Falun Gong--which may have as many as 100 million adherents worldwide, mainly in China--is tightly organized. But Zhang insists that the protest was "spontaneous."
