A Split Second Before Death?
Anyone ever watch the X-Files show where kids that died tragically were scooped up (their souls were I guess) and taken out of there right before their death, so they wouldn't feel the pain? I know this was on a long time ago, but how many think it could be true?

I don't recall that particular "X-Files" episode, but I do remember a show called "Dead Like Me" with the same premise.

Re: A Split Second Before Death?
I was reading another thread about out of body experiences, and it seems like in a few cases, people felt themselves leave their body before an accident, and were watching it from above.....just made me think of that X-Files story....and wondered if that was based on something a little more "real" than just the plot of some show. Thanks for your responses!

Re: A Split Second Before Death?
I almost drowned once when I was a kid.

At first I panicked and fought like hell. Near the end, I stopped struggling and actually felt euphoric, like higher than the highest kite in the world euphoria.

Even though I was not suicidal at all and did not want to die, the moment I was truly at death's door, I thought "wow, this isn't so bad" and even found myself really looking forward to dying.

Then my sister found me and pulled me out of the water...

This is also reason there was a mix-up and subsequent plot of the movie "Chances are".

Extreme trauma can create an OBE, So in some cases yes.
Many cases of OBE's during torture.

If death is fairly quick i would presume they would leave slightly after as you shock would be alleviating pain anyway.

Usually when I faint, and I do faint a lot, it does feel like Dying I guess, and everytime I come back it's as if coming back from a dream, I don't even know where I am because I am still back in that dream state, and the feeling is always of "damn I wish I hadn't come back".
Banned as usual.

“It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.”

I always thought that God would pull us out our body's right before tragedy.

Well but think it this way, dying is the end of consciousness. If someone would be torturing to death you wouldn't be as concerned as with death itself but with the end of agony. The point is, how long does the body lasts conscious while suffering until it finally shuts itself out? Sometimes a lot of resistance can be a bad thing I guess. No one should fear death, but agony is to be feared.
