The three days of darkness is the shift in consciousness.

The darkness, is unconscious, we will become detached, much like sleeping, but awake, from a conscious perspective, we will all be on autopilot reacting to our basic instincts, like animals, no driver, like sleep walking.

This is what it refers to, a blank spot in our awareness
