It's just howling and swirling around here. Oh, oh! As soon as I started typing this, the wind just quit. Silent. I was still in Ohio for the blizzard of '78, this weather is not normal for West Texas!

I'm not a meteorologist, just a weathertard, but this is NOT normal. Not even for here. The worst of the weather is supposed to hit the South Plains around 6 am to around 4 pm tomorrow. I grew up in NW Ohio and this is weird.

I dunno, I went to Texas Tech 1988 to 92 and we had some pretty good snows in that time, I remember one we had was about a foot, maybe a little more.

North of Amarillo, where I currently live, I've seen several snows of 2 ft or more in my lifetime...

Clayton, NM where I have a ranch, we've had 4 and 5 ft snows from time to time...

So while we haven't seen storms like this probably since the 1980's-90's, they're not totally unheard of...

You're right, we can get a LOT of snow, but do you remember blizzard warnings for Lubbock? We've been here since '93. We've had everything BUT a blizzard warning.

You guys get them every year, it seems, but what's happening down here just isn't normal. I guess what I'm trying to say is, people shouldn't take this one casually. The change from 70 to a blizzard in one day? That's not even normal up north!

The Panhandle had some real doozies back in the 70's, 80's & early 90's...

I remember one time in Amarillo the roads were drifted up with literally four to five feet of snow, and this wasn't just in places, this was for entire blocks...

I'll never forget it...

That was sometime in the mid-eighties, I was in Jr. High at the time...
