Well maybe we don't need to ask for specific locations, just what region you are from that way if we lose communication we know who else we could reach using short distance communications. Or have a local meeting spot for each regional group. Any other NorCal-ers out there???

Charters sounds better than sects. I think maybe the region should be small enough that someone could walk to their regional meeting spot just in case cars are disabled by an emp or something. So maybe a 30-50 mile radius from their respective meeting spot?

I really like this idea. I was watching that remake of Red Dawn earlier today and it really got me thinking about EMP's. This is a strong possibility and we need networks in every city where people can meet and band together in the event of a crisis.

Most people don't really give a shit about survival stuff and would rather live there life obvious to any possibility of disaster. So it's good to talk to people but you might want to focus on recruiting a few good friends and getting them on board for support. Times are going to be tough soon, start small with people you really trust and are on board and go from there. Live together, die alone.

A few points. Divide and conquer is an age old maxim used by countless persons in power. Nothing new there. Yes we may be aware of the tactic, but the web is so thick now, and the cloud so dense, that what is real truth is practically impossible to discern for even the most astute.

Also, the 'sheople' many of us often refer to, merely represent the median tenor of what it means to be human. When you get right down to it, psychologically, we are really not that separated from our ancestors. It's still a daily struggle for most just to survive. Much energy is devoted to satisfying basic needs. What's left only allows us to spend time with those we love and pursue ambitions that balance our contentment with life. So, there is very little, if any, left to open our eyes to the 'big' picture. And even more daunting is the fact that, for many, to accept the reality of their plight would shatter any semblance of sanity they desperately cling to.

Some of us are lucky in that we perceive 'the man behind curtain' is not truely being honest with us. However, as previosly noted, the murkiness of what's true and what's fiction is, by design, cleverly crafted to deceive. And because of this, it's all we can do to maintain a hold on what we know to be true, lest we be led astray into self doubt. And that friends, is another goal of the deception.

The one question I have is what makes you believe we will be invaded by anonther country. In my opinion, that has already happened long ago. But not in the traditional sense of a military invasion. It is my contention that the threat is being fomented to emerge from within. An orchestrated breakdown of society that will result in people fighting amongst each other for basic survival. If this were to happen, no invasion is necessary.

I call em as I see em;) I thought your op was very thoughtful, well written, compassionate and all of the things you called on GLP to be. I also agree that I think it would be wise for us to have some way to keep in touch in the event that we lose GLP or even worse the internet and our free speech. I think the best way to do this as subtly as possible is to meet up in an empty chat room and a certain date and time and have one person be willing to use a throw away email account, hotmail?? to use as an E staging area to then pick a more permanent E staging area for any who would like to be a part of this. And then at this second staging area we can discuss the CB channel idea. Just keep in mind though that when you're trying to organize something like this online that infiltration can be easily done.

That's a risk we're going to have to take and hope that people are more occupied with other problems than trying to mess with some glpers. We all have to assume we are being infiltrated. Everything everyone says is out in the open anyways whether we believe it or not. Unless you're whispering in a cave somewhere which most people aren't. Your appeal to non foreigner types is commendable, but on a world wide open forum you should be more inclusive. The US being invaded seems laughable to me, esp since we foreigners -- our politics, economy and culture -- has already been under continuous assault and invasion by "foreigners" for eons.
