If this comet skids off mars, couldn't it dramatically
change course and shoot more ejecta further out into space ?
There are numerous scenarios other than a direct hit or
a complete miss.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34909200 there are numerous possibilities how about it going through a 'keyhole' in the space around Mars that slings it right into our faces? who knows? perhaps that is possible, because we don't know exactly where it is going yet. I doubt a comet could slide off a planet... The mass of Mars would surely capture any object that gets close enough to force Martian Rocks into space.... That having been said... The angle of entry does have a great deal to do with the amount of martian rock thrown into space.
