the bottom line is that the Astronomers are not telling
us what they already know about when and how this comet
is going to crash into Mars.

all we are getting from all of the astronomical scientific
experts is: "we are still refining our calculations, and we'll get back with you".

the conspiracy of silence is deafening.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1545225

The comet was discovered on Jan 3rd 2013. there isn't much to tell yet, give them time to track it !
 Quoting: Wispa

that is just the point! they have had plenty of time, since Jan 3, to make all of the necessary computations to determine precisely what this thing is going to do via a vis Mars.

and now! they've EVEN GOT YOU SAYING: "they are still
refining their calculations, and they will be done pretty soon."

sheeeesh!

THEY ALREADY HAVE THE FRICKING ANSWERS, AND THEY'RE NOT TELLING US!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1545225

Well then, why don't you calculate it yourself and tell us what's what? You sure seem to know a lot if you think they already know and are not telling. Does your step uncle work for NASA? The thing with science is that you don't know anything for sure until you can run the same data and calculate the same answer over and over. Then and only then can it be confirmed as fact. This thing has only been discovered for two months. It's still far away. As it comes closer the numbers will be more accurate and then they can track it. But knock yourself out accusing. You probably wouldn't know how to calculate the answer yourself, nor do I, which is why I rely on people that do know, like Astro and others here. Why would they not tell? There is little chance that even if it does impact Mars we will feel any repercussions on earth. So what would the point be?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10422385

little chance?

i'm sorry, but you're wrong on that one I reckon. there will be billions of pieces of debris thrown away from Mars gravitational grip if this monstrous rock hits Mars, especially at the speed it is reckoned it'll be going, and most of them WILL start making their way into the inner solar system to impact all the bodies orbiting the sun

most of them will fly harmlessly into the sun of course, over time, but even a tiny fraction of billions of objects is still a big number.

Astro, in your opinion, pure guess I know, but how big would you think the biggest objects thrown out and away from Mars' gravity by an impact like this could be?

I'm not qualified to answer your question to Astro, but I believe the Earth will be traveling AWAY from the collision (if it happens) so it will 9 or 10 months before the Earth is back to the collision point. Neither object was headed toward Earth at impact, so one could reason that only a fraction would be thrown in the Earth's path.

But it only takes one chunk...

When the time comes My dearly beloved daughter for The Warning, a number of signs will be revealed.

I tell you this to remind all God’s children that they must prepare themselves beforehand.

The two stars will collide and many will be fearful.

There is nothing to fear because this is the greatest gift I bring so that not one soul is lost to the fires of Hell.

Then, My Cross, will appear in the skies and not one person will fail to notice.

Many will fall down in fear and a great shaking, like an earthquake, will be felt.

Then will come the silence.

wow.

Some prophet predicted that two stars will collide and create a cross in the sky!

I have never heard that theory before. You can skip the religious implications and still be in wonder...

This will be interesting to track.

right! and after the impact Mars will just be bits and

The comet, named C/2013 A1 (Siding Spring), was spotted at the start of this year (Jan. 2 )by Robert McNaught at the Siding Spring Observatory

Jan 13, 2013 – Yesterday bushfires swept through Australia's Warrumbungle National Park, home to Siding Spring Observatory. The telescopes there appear ...

"The NSW Rural Fire Service did a heroic job protecting the observatory infrastructure, and while over forty structures were lost in the fire, including the astonomers' lodge just hundreds of feet from the telescopes, initial assessments show that none of the site’s telescopes were lost. The impacts of heat, smoke and ash, however, have not been fully determined."

FINALLY some good news...

After adding the recent measurements, taken by Tomas Vorobjov at Kitt Peak Observatory (March 1, 2013), the distance of closest approach increased to 0.00047 AU (70 500 km). CA time is October 19, 2014, 19:09:24.48 UT. I think what we can fairly accurately estimate these parameters, before the temporary pause in the observations of this comet, due to it’s low elongation. Thanks to Tomas!

fact is that C/2013 A1 will crash into Mars, and wreak havoc all over the solar system.

Could a Comet Hit Mars in 2014?
[link to www.space.com]

According to preliminary orbital prediction models, comet C/2013 A1 will buzz Mars on Oct. 19, 2014. The icy interloper is thought to originate from the Oort Cloud — a hypothetical region surrounding the solar system containing countless billions of cometary nuclei that were outcast from the primordial solar system billions of years ago.
