Well then, why don't you calculate it yourself and tell us what's what? You sure seem to know a lot if you think they already know and are not telling. Does your step uncle work for NASA? The thing with science is that you don't know anything for sure until you can run the same data and calculate the same answer over and over. Then and only then can it be confirmed as fact. This thing has only been discovered for two months. It's still far away. As it comes closer the numbers will be more accurate and then they can track it. But knock yourself out accusing. You probably wouldn't know how to calculate the answer yourself, nor do I, which is why I rely on people that do know, like Astro and others here. Why would they not tell? There is little chance that even if it does impact Mars we will feel any repercussions on earth. So what would the point be?

i'm sorry, but you're wrong on that one I reckon. there will be billions of pieces of debris thrown away from Mars gravitational grip if this monstrous rock hits Mars, especially at the speed it is reckoned it'll be going, and most of them WILL start making their way into the inner solar system to impact all the bodies orbiting the sun

most of them will fly harmlessly into the sun of course, over time, but even a tiny fraction of billions of objects is still a big number.

Astro, in your opinion, pure guess I know, but how big would you think the biggest objects thrown out and away from Mars' gravity by an impact like this could be?

FINALLY some good news...

After adding the recent measurements, taken by Tomas Vorobjov at Kitt Peak Observatory (March 1, 2013), the distance of closest approach increased to 0.00047 AU (70 500 km). CA time is October 19, 2014, 19:09:24.48 UT. I think what we can fairly accurately estimate these parameters, before the temporary pause in the observations of this comet, due to it’s low elongation. Sure is funny how you/NASA are able to tell when a comet will hit MARS but couldn't even keep us up to date with the one that injured 1200 in russia. God i'm so sick of astroshill.
