They did not wait two weeks to search the roof with dogs. That was done within the first couple of days. They would have picked up on her scent had she walked on the roof.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35141854

They wouldn't have necessarily picked up the scent even if she'd walked. If they would, they'd have picked it up even if she was carried. A human body sheds skin cells. We can't see them or smell them. A dog can.

It was a perfect area to avoid detection. Higher than a dogs scent range, hot, dry, no grass or vegetation, and hard surface in what appears to be a sealed tank. Add direct sunlight and a little wind, no, they wouldn't have necessarily picked up the scent even if she walked there.

A cadaver dog would have been the best bet and in that location and environment, it wouldn't have been as easy as it seems, even for him.
 Quoting: Nine's

I'm very familiar with the capabilities of both scent dogs and cadaver dogs. Also the trails we leave behind us. They should have been able to detect her scent. Especially if any of what people are theorizing took place as far what she may have been doing up on the roof . The only thing I'm not 100% certain of is if both cadaver and scent dogs were used. I was under the impression both were used based on several articles I read on the search. That was very early in the search. Prior to her body being found. There is the possibility her body was not there at the time . She had never
been up on the roof walking around and her body was placed there after the roof was searched.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35141854

Awesome. You know tracking or trailing scent dogs? Or both?
You think that area wouldn't have been a problem for them? Have any idea where they started the dog? Her room, stairs, fire escape, roof? Thanks for sharing.

Re: In Memory and Honor of Elisa Lam - A Quest For Truth & Justice
i've followed the various threads on Elisa fairly closely but was not aware that there had been reports about the Hotel's water turning black!
Thought it had just left a bad taste and that water pressure had been impaired....

Link to a site called The Inquisitr

[link to www.inquisitr.com]

The water turning black reminded me of a song I have known since its release in 1991. The song is 'Blackwater' by Rain Tree Crow (reunion track by the UK band formerly known as Japan).
In reacquainting myself with the lyrics i was struck and saddened by how some of the lyrical passages tied in with some of the details we know of Elisa's plight....

Blackwater by Rain Tree Crow
I hold you in
A sea of silence
On the borderline of truth
Open violence
I see no sign
I see no place I've loved
Depending on the signs
To find the road

Blackwater take me with you
To the place that I have spoken
Come lead me through the darkness
To the light that I long to see again

I walk with you
But sleep beside her
The summer came and went
It passes us over

I see her cry
I see the face I have loved
Depending on the blind
To find the road

Blackwater take me with you
To the place that I have spoken
Come lead me through the morning
For the land that I long to see again

(my reading sees it as a somewhat claustrophobic perspective....'blindness' alluding to her poor eyesight, 'Open Violence' can be the public way the story has unfolded,
'dependence on signs to find the road' reminds me of her postcard desiring to go on a Ryan Gosling/Drive pilgrimage)

Her odd hand gesturing - at times it seems she's feeling out for something invisible to her but most definitely present to her... (at 1:54 mark)

quite possibly coincidental - but is this the same Richard Schmelter that was found to be her lone FB friend? Because YouTube has this channel for a Richard Schmelter who is living in SK.
Here he is with his own brand of hand gestures...

in yet another one of his vids -- it's just odd how the fellows stand outside a door in a hallway to overwhelm their buddy...(i believe the guy on the right-lifting his goggles is Richard)

I am very familiar. I am not a professional though. i will however say this , the area and conditions were ideal in many ways. . For instance it was not a highly trafficked area. Much easier on the dogs. They should have picked up on her scent had she been up there. If you've seen photos of the roof you would notice that it would take some maneuvering to get up to the tanks which would leave more of her scent there. I beleive they thoroughly searched the hotel with the dogs, I'm not sure what their start point was though.

Mmm. Your response to the question "you know tracking or trailing scent dogs" should have been, "tracking and trailing dogs aren't scent dogs. But that's ok. Just checking. It's a hard answer to find if you haven't worked them.

Up that high, sun shining down, and you probably know what direct sunlight does to scent, as well as wind, time, and hard surface.

A "scent" dog would have been looking for a "cone" of scent that follows out behind a person, not skin cells. The cone which would have been long gone at that height.

The location of the body looked like it was in an enclosed tank....above the line of the dogs scent. The only thing they'd have had was after the gasses started seeping and they would have gone to the top and away on the wind, above the scent of the dog.

Scent dogs also aren't looking for a particular scent, just human, so any people up there would have caused a false alarm. Same with inside the hotel.

You probably already know that though.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the difficulty of having any degree of accuracy at that location.

snipped;

Los Angeles police investigators searched the roof of the Cecil with the aid of dogs when Lam was reported missing about three weeks ago. Lopez said he didn't know if the tanks were examined.

"We did a very thorough search of the hotel," he said. "But we didn't search every room; we could only do that if we had probable cause" that a crime had been committed.

On the graffiti - looks to me we can't see all the letters, the top word seems to have more letters to the left (you can see a bit of white paint on the curve)

Maybe it says Infecto?

It's a deal.

Don't even want to think about that tank. Sincerely hope she was dead when she went in. The tank was 10 ft. high. 2/3 full. Water would have only been approx. a foot over her head. Can you imagine treading water, floating, trying to stay above water when it was only a foot above you? Exhaustion, for how long? Shudder. I hope she was dead beforehand.

Thanks. Odd thing about it is that none of them make sense, yet all of them do. Except going in by choice. Seems it would cross your mind that it could be a tank of bleach, chemicals, or whatever, and the escape choices would be limited. Not to even mention being out in the open that high up with only cement below you. Creeps me out to think about it.

U2 singing next door to the Cecil....

I wanna run, I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside
I want to reach out and touch the flame
Where the streets have no name

I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust-cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do

The city's a flood and our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind, trampled in dust
I'll show you a place high on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

We're still building and burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do

Our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
See our love turn to rust
I'll be beaten and blown by the wind

And when I go there

That was an awesome video. Except the fun spoilers. Guess you noticed all the people on roof tops. Were they there the same time Elisa was staying there?

Each thing posted brings up more questions. Interesting. Thanks for posting it.

Elisa Lam Foul Play Not Determined

The Los Angeles Police Department has had to deny recent rumours that foul play has been ruled out in the death of Vancouver student Elisa Lam.

On Monday, some media in Vancouver reported that police investigators don't suspect foul play in Lam's death.

However, Alex Martinez, a LAPD public information officer, denied those reports to The Vancouver Sun.

You mentioned, "Especially if any of what people are theorizing took place as far what she may have been doing up on the roof ." I missed that. What are they thinking she was doing up there?

An assortment of things . Take your pick ...
Using the tank as an isolation chamber.
Going for a swim.
Partying by herself or with others.
Going up there to check out the view of L.A
Playing out a strange online game called left4dead as if it were actually happening in reality.

There are a few more but those are the major ones.

Hey , you're wa py faster than me:)

In total agreement again. I do not see going into that tank by choice as a viable possibility. As you said just the thoughts that would go through your mind upon considering it...the difficulty in getting back out, what is actually in the tank (chemicals) It seems to me that just getting in the tank to begin with would be difficult ,once you realized that you would be bound to back out even if you had considered it for a moment. They couldn't get her out of there without cutting the tank open. Creeps me put too.

Glad you mentioned that about the difficulty getting in. The tank looks sealed with some type of lid on top in the middle. You couldn't climb up there; you'd have to jump from that wall the way it looks. If you jumped and missed, there's a good chance of being seriously hurt. If you tossed a body and it slid down, well, there ya go. Looks like a real hard thing to get into without a ladder. No way of getting out.

Look at these pictures. More clear than some of them. The lid isn't center like I thought, and is much smaller than it looks on the other pictures. Look how hard it would be to get into one:

METH! Why doesn't everyone see the real culprit. This demon drug is doing this and it will come after your kids too. Wake up.

Supposedly ecstacy and pcp makes some people act like she did in the elevator. I've heard about ecstacy being dropped in drinks and pcp draws people to water. Thing is, she's not known to drink, do drugs or smoke. If it's drugs, seems more likely, based on her past, that she took them without knowing. Guess nothing can be ruled out.

What i said before isn't a Certainty 333
More like a "most possible suspect"

This was no ordinary run of the mill Demon, no bottom feeder could have perpetrated this defilement.

The name came up in another unrelated thread, quite a strange quirky thing that let nowhere just garble and usual things.. to the untrained eye it was junk.. nonsense, and directed into another rabbithole that will lead nowhere.

But, the *word* was marbas

Based on the MO, and the severity of the breach, this rings too loud to ignore.

And then there's the *message* with the mark, see the 3 marks above the words, that's no crown. That's a territory marker, a simple downstroke meaning, mine, i own this.

A peed a little when i saw that message, I don't rattle easy (as you could imagine..)

So now i guess some of you super-sleuths must be thinking... im the killer... and that's a ROTFL and a LOL all at the same time.. i don't even have a passport. In the light of some of the accusations above... i just needed to clear that up..

Men were likey involved, Man is a tool for Satan, and it's all wi-fi now.. no wires (yay for messing with our brainwaves!!) but those men are ghosts.. if you ever do find your *killer* it'll be some poor drugged up soul who's zombied enough to go with it... welcome to the new word.

Before i go, I pose a question, "How does MK-Ultra work, and why" keep in mind that's just a military codename for something that's been around long before us.. for those of you making that connection.. look into that a bit, and then what i say might not seem so whacky.

You'll also see the net/World in a brand new Light. careful with that though.. don't wanna end up like some of our beloved members... cool2

Exactly. One of the many reasons that lead me to believe she was killed elsewhere and then placed in the tank. She was also found face up and wedged in the tank.

Thanks. Those are great. Really give you a good idea of how hard it would be to get in there.
