Well, when I was younger and sowing my wild oats I had a very scary and jarring experience..I can't call it a Near Death experience because I was actually clinically flatlined for several minutes and I was not recusitated or revived. That whole thing totally turned my whole world upside down and inside out and my life has never been the same. Thank you though..sometimes I feel that I am not that wise or special..but I know I have purpose. I don't know what it is but I'm still trying to find it..I feel it a little bit more when I find a cause like this to help Elisa. I look forward to meeting her on the other side one day. And you as well, my new friend.

That is interesting to say the least. OP mentioned he had volunteered for the WWOOF program which was originally the reason she planned the trip, but it fell through. Maybe this is where the bait falls in.

Is it possible someone gave her false info to lure her nder the guise of the program????

She was hoping to get a campus room but her university couldn't find an exchange place close enough for her to do the WWOOF thing.

There's no evidence that she knew anyone at all in California, although she probably had contacts via the internet living in the state - her facebook was private and probably for close friends and family but she was very active on tumblr, blogger, instagram and formspring and would 'meet' strangers with similar literary and fashion tastes on there. All the reports of her behaviour while in CA during her final week suggest that she was being more friendly and more sociable to strangers than she had been previously and was in a generally upbeat mood.

Well, it doesn't go anywhere near explaining all the weirdness and synchronicity around Elisa's death, and I am as confused as anyone else. I wanted to start by examining her own words and postings and establish some 'daylight' facts before delving into the spookier twilight realms.

Thanks for helping with information. My questions would be sex offenders often are not murderers, however they could be used or bought to do the dirty work. This situation seems to be far , far above the intelligence of a Cecil Hotel living offender...but...

Who's to say him and a few of his other buddies who are afraid of being forced out of their homes didn't pick a target and try to use her death to STOP the new owners from restoring the hotel to an upscale tourist destination?

Now.. maybe this also makes sense as to why he jumps right up for CNN and shows the water.. as the interview said.. right off the bat.. FOOTAGE CECIL HOTEL OWNERS DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE!

Possible motive here for sure. Putting a body in a water tank would ruin the hotel's reputation forever. That would ensure that old-time residents wouldn't be displaced by hotel owners wanting to convert it into a tourist building. Because that's what stumped me from the start. Why such a strange location as a water tank? If murdered, why not just throw her off the roof to make it look like a suicide? Or if she was a suicide, same thing?

I feel sick to my stomach.

Well, shucks Joey. Thanks for the, er, kind words? My company manages the Cecil Hotel and, had you asked, I would have been happy to clear a few things up for you. First of all, we realize that the Cecil needs a renovation. In fact, we have plans drawn up to renovate the entire building and convert most of it into a mid-priced Best Western Hotel. We thought it was a great idea. The area would get a newly-renovated hotel to serve this rapidly gentrifying neighborhood and the almost-broke City of Los Angeles gets about a million bucks per year in increased occupancy taxes. A win-win situation, right? That’s when the City of Los Angeles stopped us dead in our tracks.

You see, several years ago, Councilwoman Jan Perry and the Los Angeles Housing Department decided that the then-in-progress revitalization of this part of town (what most of us currently call the “Loft District”) was a bad thing…bad for the down-on-their-luck low-income residents that used to populate this area to the exclusion of almost everyone else. Afraid that the newly-relocating loft dwellers would displace the drug dealers, prostitutes and welfare recipients who called the area home, they enacted the “Temporary Control Ordinance” (which later morphed into the current “Permanent Control Ordinance”). This ordinance more-or-less arbitrarily placed a whole bunch of downtown hotels on the “Residential Hotels” list. The stated guidelines they established were these: If – on October 15, 2005 – more than 50% of a downtown hotel’s “guests” were actually residents who considered the facility their primary residence, then onto the list you went. In fact, only about 30% of the Cecil Hotel’s guests were of this variety at the time. Nevertheless, the Cecil Hotel was tossed on the list with all of the others. So, the owners of this hotel are now forever bound by law to remain a “residential hotel” for the benefit of low-income residents. If you think that this sounds an awful lot like an Eminent Domain taking, then you would be correct…eminent domain without compensation, which is very specifically against the Constitution of the United States. Doesn’t matter, nobody has the wherewithall to challenge the ordinance, so that is that. Like they say, you can’t fight city hall.

Well, not exactly, the owners of the Cecil Hotel HAVE sued the City of Los Angeles over this issue. We also continue to operate the hotel exactly as it was operated prior to October 15, 2005 which, surprisingly enough, is allowed under the Ordinance. In fact, all you must do to comply with the Ordinance is to make rooms AVAILABLE to low-income residents…at market rates! Huh? It seems obvious that low income tenants can’t afford to pay the now much-higher rents that area apartments are fetching. Yes, well Ms. Perry and the LAHD didn’t think that one through entirely. Unfortunately, though, the Ordinance does make it almost impossible for us to realize our Best Western dreams because combining two rooms into one (and adding bathrooms to each) effectively removes one guestroom from those that are supposed to remain available to low-income residents. Crazy, huh? A lose-lose situation if ever I saw one. So what do you do?

At this hotel, we have done as much as we can. We removed all of the prostitutes and drug dealers from the building. We still have 66 full-time residents, most of whom are on welfare, but they are (for the most part) good rent-paying, law-abiding people…some of whom have been here for several decades. In addition, we have two floors of college dorm-style rooms that house students from five local colleges. We also created Stay, which you mentioned only briefly in your article. Stay is, essentially, a very upscale youth hostel. (You can see for yourself at [link to www.stay-hotels.net).] This 138-room hostel-within-a-hotel is freshly renovated and very popular with backpacking European tourists and others looking for a hip place to stay for not much dough. You should have checked in yourself. It is an entirely different experience from the rest of the Cecil Hotel.

So, that brings us back to the Cecil Hotel. We continue to proceed with our plans for Marty and Nip and Tuck. Although, the City has put up one roadblock after another. I guess our $40 million lawsuit hurt their feelings. But, we perservere. However, until the lawsuit is resolved, the Cecil Hotel remains as it has been. It is a cheap place to stay, that is for sure. Rooms here are half of what they would be anywhere else downtown. And, there is a big market for that…cheap rooms, clean and prostitute-free. Apparently, you are not in the Cecil’s target demographic set. So, I am sorry that you were disappointed with your visit to the Cecil. But thanks for the trashing nevertheless.

This is great information. I had not read this before. It would be easy to lure someone through those sites. Especially a sweet young lady that may have been naive.

Many things about this case bothers me.

One, what caused them to look in the water tank in the first place? It doesn't make sense to me that because of low water pressure they'd look to the tank. Can someone help me understand this?

Two, the water tank itself. Has a small hatch on top. Yet one of the MSM articles explained that the guy looked in the tank and saw her on the bottom. Really? Do we believe this?

Three, others have mentioned this in other threads, that it seems the video in the elevator was edited. And also wondered what was the purpose of releasing that video. These are also what I am wondering about. A lot of bldgs with elevators have cams pointing at the elevator from outside in the hallway. I'd be interested in seeing that footage, if any. As well as the whole video from inside with nothing edited out.

Seems she was on a Cali tour, going from San Diego, to LA, then planned to go on to Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

Read in one of the MSM articles (or comments incl in those) that she had been to this same hostel in LA, back in December, and decided to come back. Anyone else read that?

I watched the 4 min youtube version from inside the elevator

The video appears to have been "tweeked" (by an inside source) I'd say. Watch from about 2:50 to 3:00 you can see the time counter in the bottom left corner freezes 3 times before the door closes. Why would the door not close before? Likely someone with a elevator key disabled the elevator. She seems to be talking to someone, before the door closes. The hand movements and the counting on the fingers would suggest she was explaining something to someone. My guess is that someone, was somebody she had met earlier or was dressed in a hotel uniform. Afterwards he just edited himself out of the video
