Note to the Academy: It's NEVER ok to joke about one of our president's being assassinated. Period! ESPECIALLY our 16th. President. Sorry Mr. Lincoln And the opening number was misogyny at best and was also n very poor taste! I hope you noticed the looks of disapproval and outright disgust from the female actresses in the audience. The Oscars use to be a very classy awards show. What happened??? It's almost like the Academy is finally showing its true colors!

Kristen Stewart (Bella from Twilight) got worst dressed. Her dress was alright, but her hair and makeup, to use the words of one News 10 correspondant...looked like she'd been in a fight prior to the Oscar runway. And when it was her turn to go on stage she was very jittery, like she was on drugs. I hope she was just nervous because she was on a live program and not the latter. Something was said about her recently getting off of crutches, so that might have been the cause for her unsteadiness? About the only nice thing I have to say about the Oscars this year is that the actresses were dressed more tastefully and showing less skin than normal.

And before anyone tries to "school" me on the academy being evil and full of the nefarious agenda of the illuminatie, I already know about all of these theories. This thread is just about how very bad this year's awards ceremony was. And to be honest...with everything going on in the world right now, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how quickly the veil is thinning.

I suppose that would have been in the eye of the beholder. That said...you probably would have liked the joke the Academy used about his death.

Curious..how is it that you think Lincoln was a war criminal? Oh and btw...for those who didn't watch the Oscars, I find it ironic and somewhat interesting that following the Lincoln joke, the Academy had Michelle Obama on Sat feed to give the biggie announcement of the winner of Best Picture.

I watched it while I did dishes and cleaned my kitchen......kinda boring.

I was really surprised by the best picture award.

I was hoping it would be "The Life of Pi"....great movie.

I've yet to see it. But I would like to. It looks very good! I didn't see Argo, but my husband did and he thought it was pretty good. Also, what did you think of the opening number?

I thought it was odd that with the Oscar winners, as in every year, some of them inexorably go blabbering on far to long with their acceptance speeches.

But this year, they'd cut them off with that shark theme song from 'Jaws', getting louder and louder.

Totally cheeseball.

That seriously cannot be a new Oscar tradition, the 'Jaws' theme song when speeches go on to long.

Seth was bad. The production was bad.

They ain't winning no Academy Awards for that!

Re: Did anyone else watch the Oscars tonight? Were you as disappointed and embarrassed for the Academy as I was? :(
I didn't think it was that bad. I was actually rather surprised that Seth managed to keep it as 'clean' as he did - even with the Ted bit and the boob song, it wasn't as raunchy as he normally is. And I have to say, the man has a beautiful singing voice.

Was a little disappointed by some of the awards (I would have liked to see Hugh Jackman win for Les Mis, but I'm apparently in the minority on that; I was happy Hathaway won).

Adele didn't sound all that great. I thought the whole 'tribute' to Chicago was a bad/silly idea. And Michelle Obama announcing the Best Picture award was absolutely unnecessary.

I don't know this Seth guy...but I still stand by my original assessment of the show. But thanks for chiming in. As for Michelle announcing Best Picture. It really didn't bother me. I think that was just the White House's way of showing America that it has its finger on our pulse.

Re: Obama, I guess any opportunity is a good opportunity for free political stumping. Lame.

I don't watch the Oscars or the dozen other shows just like it because I don't care... I did try this year for about 10 min but it just confirmed that it bores me. It just seems like a family reunion of a family full of really fake people. Why would I want to eavesdrop on that.

I don't find them very talented. If they are actors, why are they so horrible, awkward and wooden on the Oscars stage? seems they have a lot to thank their film editors for.

I just saw some images in the Daily Wail.
The beautiful actresses just remind me of slaves at market on a Saturday.

And then the after party with Elton's little alter ego hanging out with guests left a bad taste in my mouth.

But hey - I can't watch this kind of thing other than see a few photos - all these people claiming priveledge and honour.
I would rather watch a fireman's award ceremony.
