It was insane down there today. Arrests, pepper-spray, horse stampedes.. followed by an intense game of cat and mouse through downtown. A battle ground in the middle of the city.

There are many countries that give free educations,why are we the ones that run it like a business?

Tuition should not be based on inflation at all,if it is it wont be long before only the super rich are the only ones that get a post secondary education.

Just look at who is filling the skilled jobs in Canada, people who got a free education in other countries.

Look at America poaching our nurses and doctors,why because it's cheaper to get an education in Canada than in the states,so they come here with a golden handshake promising higher pay and massive benefits.

I agree it should be free, but still, that's not really realistic (atleast for now and without a majority government). I'm near montreal and agree those kids are pushing it way too far what for is it.

Can you imagine this number of peoples in the street protesting about what really matter?! (like the monopoly of many corporations or about our ressources that we're just giving away?)

And imho, just a reform of the school system in Quebec would have made the pill easier to swallow (about the hike). I say lets get ride of college, make the Qc student go from highschool to university directly and save money there...

Why not let them break away then? I don't know much about the Canadian political structure other than everyone I know from Canada dislikes the Quebecoise.

I believe that every person should be able to get a free education. To whatever degree they are able to be successful. It would appear that the more education a person has, the more taxes they would be paying to the government, so in effect the government would be making an investment in that person. Not to mention the gains to society in general. When the cost is so high that people can't afford it without putting themselves in debt for at least half of their life, The message appears to be "We know you'll never get a decent job, no matter how smart you are, or how much education you have, so just give us our money up front."

Here is the first video. The protest was peaceful and then we are charged by police on horseback @2:30, as the police attempt to disperse the crowd. The demonstrators regroup and force the police lines back @4:00, followed by a second charge @4:50.

Perhaps if we stopped buying over priced fighter jets and started cutting tenure costs in university's we could make it affordable for ALL.

The next time you hear "We have all sorts of skilled jobs" you can tell them about the free educations other nations are offering.
I think it is a ploy to open up our borders to immigrants that will vote for the ruling party.

There is no reason post secondary education should break the bank of the average family,while the jobs go to the people that got their education for free.
