He didn't invent anything that technology has been around forever. I watched a DIY video on you tube years ago that showed how to build one.

This technology existed many years now. Anyone who studied Electromagnetics knows that an electromagnetic wave can induce a voltage to a closed loop. You know, generators are supposed to work that way. The problem with RF (including WiFi frequencies) is the signals are always very weak, so the energy harvesting is small. It, thus, can only apply to low power devices. Don't expect to use this for powering your house.
