Until now. Marc Okon has launched Pet Food Stamps, a New York-based nonprofit that will give qualifying pet owners throughout the U.S. (who must be receiving government assistance for themselves) funds to buy food for their animals from the website PetFoodDirect. In the program's first two weeks, Okon says he has already fielded more than 12,000 applications. "It's aimed at preventing people from having to choose feeding themselves or their animals or having to surrender them to a high-kill shelter," Okon said. :romanempire: |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35168629 lol what so people can feed their dogs crappy dry/prepackaged foods and have poor Fido die from some weird illness? how nice of them to do that. Better some crappy food than the owner sticking the animal in a kill gas shelter. Thread: Dog Owners: Purina Beneful Varieties May be Lethal! It's Happening Again! besides that, do you know whats in most petfood? Its more like which death is prettier. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23004989 United States 02/26/2013 01:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The thought of a special website for these pet food stamps brings me back to listening to the Coast to Coast broadcast about pet food being made out of....pets. Dog food with someone's dead dog ground into it. I think of this being an easy way to provide people with pet food and feel they're definitely giving them the cheapest around. Though, I remember hearing that the main guest on that episode claimed she had not found an even remotely brand name dog food which wasn't contaminated in this manner. In essence, all pet food contains dead pets. |

Too many animals have been given up or abandoned because their owners couldn't afford to care for them anymore. vaccinefreehealth blogspot com The risk far outweighs any benefit as the risk will vary from child to child. facebook.com/graphixyourway |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 31907650 United States 02/26/2013 01:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People who can't afford to feed themselves and their kids should not have pets. It's nice that this guy has started a non-profit for this. As long as he is not receiving any gov't grants, I think this is OK. Although, again, when people are bankrupt and depending on gov't to feed them, even if they get the pet food for free, are they able to afford shots/vet care, etc? Doubtful. So then should they keep them? |
