The film was boring. Best film of the year, what a joke. Again, all politics. Afleck can't even act good. He's a BORE

I remember that "Charlie Wilson's War", which depicted how the CIA and MOSSAD supplied and funded the Afghan Mujahideen was totally ignored in Hollywood, even though it had Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

Fake?

I was just starting to like the Canadians....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1404507

actually the canadians did help our embassy personnel much as they were enormously helpful on the original 911. i can't speak to what the brits did or did not do, i think most of us just assume they did not put themselves out for our people.

I think you're severely overestimating the worldly wisdom of your population.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 475310

i think you are too gullible and believe whatever you read in the leftist media whether in your country or in this one.

i find ironic that you believe everything that the media tells you about, say for instance, the Tea Party or republicans in general, and can't see example after example of the media skewing the truth except when it applies to you.

the media lies and distorts all with the same leftist agenda to make left-wingers look good. they are joined at the hip with progressives. i can't help that you are that gullible to think they only lie about you while believeing that they tell the truth about conservatives in my country.

The vain Obamas went a bridge too far in placing the neon lights on their hollywood propaganda works. Nobody wants to be the last one admitting to be a dupe, so their own side is quickly abandoning them. FWIW. Sadly, their supporters will come back, reluctantly, when the only alternative is a Republican parody of evil, so they lose nothing personally but hollywood lost much.

Nice to see that they're now throwing allies under the bus inadvertently.

Hollywood is a Zionist-controlled CIA front made of MK Ultra handlers and Monarch drones. There's nothing to argue about it!

Back in the '30s and '40s Hollywood was just a New-Babylonian frat house to indulge the need of worshiping and sexual depravity of the Nephilim bloodline.

After the 2nd world war the Nazi taught the Americans how to use their movie industry as a mass control tool, and after James Cameron's grandfather got aboard, the MK Ultra apparatus definitely took over Hollywood.

And btw, since we're talking about Hollyweird CIA operatives, did Brad Pitt finish that flick "World War Z" already, or he ran out of money bribing the Hungarian government, after they busted him running a ton of real weapons and ammo into their country, while shooting the movie???

i have never ever posted with a brit or met one who hasn't said, "I love America, BUT........" and then proceeded to list everything they hate about america, especially americans. I say your expression of affection is nothing but phony shit and exposes you as the two-faced individual that you are.

do you have a problem with me saying i like britain it's just the british who i hate? do you not see how ridiculous that is? it's like saying i love chicken salad but I hate chicken and mayonnaise.

It is, the Canadians planned the Canadian Caper.

Look up Ken Taylor.

[link to www.theglobeandmail.com]

There was no life-or-death interrogation at the departure gate. No anti-authority bravery by a lone-wolf CIA agent. And Canadian wannabe heroes didn’t try to grab a spotlight that properly belonged to the U.S. intelligence service.

In the wake of Sunday night’s win by Ben Affleck’s Argo for best-picture Oscar in a ceremony viewed by more than 39 million Americans, the man who served as Canada’s ambassador to Iran during the 1979 U.S. hostage crisis says he has accepted Hollywood’s penchant for poetic licence, especially now that key figures are vouching for the importance of the Canadian contribution to the rescue mission.

Hollyweird just could not give credit to them, it had to be all about the Americans.

Most americans don't hate brits. I don't, I do hate certain brits but for the most part you guys are alright. Hollywood loves brits too, think James Bond, Jason statham movies the list goes on. I hate that people just make broad sweeping statements about america we are the most diverse group in the world. Piers morgan does suck though.

Why are you guys even arguing with this shill???

Stallone and his Rambo movies, alongside with Chuck Norris and Schwarzenegger, were the poster-boys of the gun-toting-survivalist Hollywood psyop during the '80s, helping to boost the US domestic industry of automatic weapons and create at least two generations of trigger happy maniacs.

The whole Vietnam-grudge thing was just an excuse to keep the moves going out. I wonder how many tons of weapons and ammo the CIA smuggled while Sly and Arnie shot movies in South American and Asian small banana republics...

Then the MI6 should have told Adele to boycott the Oscars, right????

What does Hollywood have against the British? Once again on Oscar night, Tinsel Town gave warmly to us with one hand — while cynically taking away with the other.

The good news is that at least nine Britons will fly back across the Atlantic with coveted golden statues.

But the bad news is that Argo — the movie that won Best Film — is yet another piece of Hollywood’s Brit-bashing junk history that casts us in a poor light.

The film, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, tells the story of how the Canadian government and the CIA managed to rescue six American diplomats from the clutches of the Iranian students who occupied the U.S. embassy during the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Although the movie is a cracker — tense and terrifying — like so much that comes out Hollywood, Argo plays fast and loose with the facts. And unsurprisingly, the Brits are given a real pasting. For, according to the Affleck version of the rescue mission, the six embassy staff were refused refuge by British diplomats. ‘Brits turned them away,’ says a senior CIA character in the film.

You can imagine the outraged comments over industrial buckets of popcorn in movie theatres from Alabama to Alaska. ‘Goddamn Limeys! So that’s what we get for bailing them out during World War II.’

The truth, however, could not be more different. The British did give their American colleagues sanctuary. Far from being cowards, the Brits were heroes. Many of the British diplomats then stationed in Iran are still alive — and they’re fuming.

‘When I first heard about this film, I was really quite annoyed,’ says Sir John Graham, 86, who was our man in Tehran at the time of the crisis. Sir John is understandably concerned that Argo will become accepted as the definitive history of what happened. He may have a point(...)
