Most regimes fall during the non violent stage of à revolution. Absolutely. What pacifists and gun grabbers fail to understand is history and the past as precedent. It isn't the people who rise up without reason to throw off tyranny. The people are always far too reluctant to do so and far too patient to begin any overt action. It is ALWAYS the government that acts to destroy the rights of the people and deny them the fundamental liberty that is endowed upon them by their creator. It is ALWAYS the government that seeks to define the terms which grant the people the right to LIFE itself. In other words, it is ALWAYS the government that SHOOTS FIRST and brings upon the people the weight of the corrupt power the government can wield. That is why our founders DID NOT WANT a standing army to exist within our borders. That is why the Second Amendment is paramount to securing freedom for all and not just the ruling class. If you are a minority whether by race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., belief in the Constitution of the United States, belief in the sanctity of civil rights and the founding principals of this nation, then YOU are at risk of a government when the government has ALL power. If the government is the only entity with a gun, then ask yourself, why do they need them? Is it to protect you from an enemy or to protect their power from your interference? |

Mayor Leigh Dollar is working with city officials to pass an ordinance that would give police the power to “disarm individuals” during a disaster Quoting: mathetes My advice on a legal front would be run a petition to have a recall election of that Mayor(The lying witch she is) They don't have good intentions as they claim. Any mala prohibitum law will always be misused and abused by the power structure for their benefit and control. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5640892 United States 02/26/2013 05:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is just great..., I thought that my gun rights would be decently protected in Huntsville, AL due to being a very conservative state to call home. Our state politicians have even advocated new bills since the recent massacre allowing gun permitted owners to carry to places of employment due to employers having bans on employees to carry. But this shows that no one is safe anymore. Luckily I happened to purchase my new ARs and other high powered weapons TWO days before the massacre; since then retail on just the AR alone has already to more than tripled in what I paid for list. Now time to hide my treasured collection! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33860352 United States 02/26/2013 05:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Think about how much more frequently a 'state of emergency' is declared now...most recently for the east cost blizzard a few weeks ago. Driving on any road in Boston was deemed cause for arrest. Grew up on east coast, never had a state of emergency for snowstorms - no matter how huge - until last couple of years! Slippery slope precedent they are going for there in AL. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 5640892 United States 02/26/2013 05:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As being a 5-6 generation Alabamian, I don't know how this happened. All (well 90+%) of our politicians are Republicans who are deeply rooted in gun support. Hell, as I said in my last post, we even have entered a bill since the recent massacres ALLOWING gun owners to carry to places of employment. So it seems some very liberal idealist in my state know their only chance at office is running as a conservative in one of our small towns.... |

Governments should fear the people, not the other way around. That is why we have the second amendment, it is a power check. The only thing that keeps people honest is fear, and nothing else. Otherwise they will lie cheat and steal to get what they want, when they want which is exactly what is happening. |

She says it's for the protection of workers during crisis response--I'm sorry, but if some nut was causing havoc, police already have the ability to arrest/detain that individual and take their weapons. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35091702 You're absolutely right, to "maintain order" one of the reasons we have cops in the first place. So, she means like the power workers? Believe me, down here in Florida we love those guys after the storms. |

I almost fell out on the floor. |
