GLP, tell me what you DO love about America...
Day in and day out, I read posts about how America is falling further into disaster, about the seeming decline in quality of life and culture. I would like to hear today's perspective on the exact opposite.

I am not a native American, nor a native Canadian. I was born in a poor European country and left the mother land with my family many moons ago in the pursuit of a better life. I have traveled to America several times.

There are many things I love about America.. mainly, the people. I find Americans to be open, friendly, and very passionate. As a young man, I was amazed at how friendly and open the ladies were. Single young American men, your women are the friendliest in the world. Do not be nervous, just say hello and magic will happen.

Hmm. I understand and agree that everything has been tainted with bullshit. I feel helpless to do anything about it because it seems like there are too many people in the world to appeal to, too much diversity in philosophy and religion. No matter how well reasoned you are, someone will disagree, so... how do we take back the government and economy without harming anyone else?

Honestly...

I LOVE this nation.

I love my home state of Kentucky

this is the land of my father and his father.

My heritage is deeply embedded in this state.

one of my favorite things about this nation is free speech...

Many countries would have you punished for being critical of the nations leader(s)

Here in America you can mock, laugh, jest the leaders all you want... (as long as its non threatening) and nothing of harm would come to you...

that is awesome!

Although I do agree with you that being able to jest the leaders is a positive.. some part of me thinks it is allowed so that people release tension that would otherwise be released through revolution.

Quality of life and security is decreasing, more freedom's are being infringed upon.. if this were to occur 200 years ago, I do not think people would be laughing at all... just my 2 cents...

ps. American comedians are the funniest in the world though, haha

This country needs love.
I will love it because it's freedoms have been abused and exploited and

I will love it because I am making a conscious choice to relate to it as more than something there for my critiquing

and I will love it till it gets well again and its people
learn how to care for the fragile nature of such an experiment

I will love it because haters and destroyers do not

I will love it because of the blood that was spilled to
allow me that opportunity

Nice!! :)

I love what America was supposed to be...once was, still is, slightly..

I love that we still have choices...even if they are not all good for us..and are dwindling rapidly

I love that we are not all living 10 to a room/living in filth(unless by choice)and watching our children die from hunger, (yes, I know this does happen here, but it is not the norm, yet)

I love the seasons, the mountains, the smell of spring...
I love the Westerns, John Wayne, the classics, too

I love that my children and I can walk outside and not have to worry about stepping on a landmine...that we do not live in constant fear of being killed the moment we step outside or when sleeping at night because war is constantly being waged around us...

I love those who fought/are fighting for the things we currently enjoy..the things we so carelessly do not preserve...

It's important to note that not only American blood was spilled, but Indian, African and Chinese as well.. in great numbers... astonishing numbers... I commend you for speaking of love and choosing it as your "weapon", so to speak... you have made the right choice as the power of love is greater than anything else in the universe.

That was a beautiful and powerful read. It was almost heart wrenching. There is so much that is worth fighting and even dying for.. but people don't even have to go to that extreme anymore. These things are too great to let go of now.

I Love the fact that everyone is from everywhere and we bring our ethnicity with us but until recently we merged that ethnicity into a fully integrated American soul who was proud to be a full blooded American and would fight to our last breath to protect our beautiful and diverse country.

I love the justice department.

- 5 years in jail for 0.05 gram of weed.

- In Florida, unmarried women get jail time / arrest / fined for parachuting on Sunday.

Try Belgium.
You really need to commit a terrible crime before they put you in jail and even then you could be released due to procedural errors. It happens all the time. Last week a guy who killed a 14 year old girl, got released that way.

My country has turned into a shit hole. Growing up wasn't so bad, no crazy laws, not as crazy leaders. I'd say the only good thing about this country are our national parks to get away from all the idiots, even though a ton go there, but I go to get away from people. The women are horrible...I could go on and on. I'm seriously thinking about moving to another country very soon.
