This is because we are accustomed to eating carbs and proteins togdther. Our stomacbes can only digest one at a time. The stomache will start on the protien causing the carbs to ferment inside your stomache. Not a great situation really.

It's possible that you have a gluten allergy or celiac disease. Quite common now-a-days. A lot of people have it, at least mild cases, and don't know it. It's usually from eating too much wheat... Or at least the "wheat" they put in our food.

I have this same thing going on with swelling in the right side of my stomach. Have for about 5 years now. Always feeling like I have to take a dookie, and when I do I feel better. However I also feel like I have to eat right after the dookie. It's a cycle that doesn't end.

I had giardia when I was about 19 (now 27), I think there is a chance it never fully went away. I also drink lots of carbonated drinks, and few vegetables. I probably should fix that, it gets annoying to deal with this every day, I feel your pain.

I can physically push on the right side of my stomach, right next to my belly button, and feel my swollen intestines and move them around hearing the gas move. Also have a hairless spot there where the rest of my stomach and chest have hair. Not sure if that is related to it or not, as I also appendix carry my concealed weapon and it rubs there all the time.

Giardia never goes away - at least at this point cannot be eliminated. Can only be controlled.

Usually symptoms follow exposure in a short time of one or two days. I cannot say for certain that giardia is ever delayed for a time period.

You do need to check for this problem - perhaps ahead of other possibilities.

Huh, I was told by the doc that after antibiotic treatment that it would kill the Giardia and things would be back to normal. Is this incorrect?

Have you taken some antibiotics? Your stomach isn't digesting the food right probably because you don't have a good set of bacteria in your stomach. Go get some good pro-biotics from a health food store and take them. You need to restore the flora balance.

In addition, eat some yogurt with live bacteria and drink some Bulgarian style buttermilk. Just a few ounces everyday will help.

YES. Drives me insane sometimes. I've noticed wheat/carbs make it worse. Drink a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water. Helps a little.
