Do Forum Based Romantic Relationships Ever Work Out IRL?
Talk about looking for love in all the wrong places...lol

Do forum romances ever translate into successful meatworld relationships?

Or do they almost always end up 'bad'?

Any success stories? Disasters I've witnessed plenty of.. :/

Yes. People on forums tend to have similar beliefs and through open conversation they have a deeper understanding of each other.

Re: Do Forum Based Romantic Relationships Ever Work Out IRL?
I've seen 2 out of 10 internet relationships go real and manage to last.
Of those 2, one still spends all of their time together online which I just find bizarre.

Of the remaining 8:
One got divorced from their real world husband and then dumped by their online boyfriend before even meeting him in person.
One met a few times in person, fell in love, got dumped.
One met, got pregnant almost instantly, broke up a year later.
One met, she was disgusted by real world him (he stunk), dumped him and he spent the next three years online waiting or her to come back to him...he's probably still there.
The rest just fizzled.

A whole 20% if you sit next to each other while having cyber sex with each other.

Lol. It's possible, just a bit of a risk.

Oh, by the way, studies have shown that people that hook up online have a higher chance of getting an STD.

[link to news.nationalpost.com]

"As long ago as 2004, however, a research team at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta reported that 43% of the women they surveyed had had sex with someone they met first online, and tended to have a high rate of sexually transmitted infections. “The Internet is a flourishing sex venue” with a wide pool of partners and the potential “to spread an STI or HIV with greater efficiency than ever before imagined,” they concluded."

peace
