The media manipulates information on a massive scale. What makes you even think the Bible has come this far without being manipulated just once.

Lets look into perspective. Truth is sought out by personal experience. Joe Blow can tell you he has experienced the best butter in the world. You however wont truly believe it until you try it for yourself.

Now lets just suppose you were not living during the era when Jesus walked the earth. Lets just suppose you were not reincarnated during this time. How would you truly know what he spoke of or what he stood for?

Have you understood what homosexuality is? Do you truly believe that homosexuals chose to have 95% of the world hate them? People can be born with both male and female parts. What makes you think manipulation of biology stops at the physical particles?

Good day to you.
 Quoting: Cebeij

It's funny you mentioned manipulation, because that's what you just did. You conflated several different topics with this one to confuse, redirect, and disorient. God and His Son Jesus Christ have both said that homosexuality is wrong, the evidence contained in the bible is overwhelming.
 Quoting: Rising Son

I would also add, why don't we just "accept" alcoholics cause they were born that way, as well as sociopaths, psychopaths, rapists, child molesters, people who practice beastiality as well other types of abnormal and unaccepted behavior in society. Why is it that homosexuality is singled out as an "accepted birth defect?" Who drew this line and on what basis was it drawn? Serious question. Why is it that homosexuality gets a free pass on the political correctness train?

That is a really good point - I never thought of it that way. You cannot claim acceptance of some birth defects and not others. I believe that homosexuality and it's purpose is to destroy the sanctity and concept of marriage.

Re: Jesus Christ Preached Against Homosexuality, But He Also Said Not To Judge Others
Religion does make people sheep. All religious people do is point to the book. "This is what God said" over and over again, no matter what happens in life. But they accept the book as if it was actually written by God. The Bible was written by people claiming to talk to God. That would be the equivalent of half the people on GLP, who also think god talks to them, getting together, and writing a book, and turning it into a religion.

I'm not invested in this topic at all, but for the sake of perspective, I offer the following discussions: (these are detailed discussions of scripture by Christians)

Jesus affirmed a gay couple - Matthew 8:5-13

Jesus said some are born gay - Matthew 19:10-12
[link to www.wouldjesusdiscriminate.org]

The early church welcomed a gay man - Acts 8:26-40

David loved Jonathan more than a woman - 11 Samuel 1:26

I stumbled upon the above website (Would Jesus Discriminate?) some time ago when the crazy notion struck me to see if I could find a biblical record of Jesus healing a "mental problem that causes one to be gay" - and no, I didn't find one :)

Listen guys....

Let he who has no sin cast the first stone...!!!

Do you understand this?

You is not your job to belittle, bully or fearmonger someone because of their sexual preferrence.

And yes, I FIRMLY believe Jesus Christ would say the same thing in this situation.

I don't care what your sexual preferrences are. That is between you and The Lord. I am cammanded to love my neighbor as myself. It doesn't say love your neighbor as yourself but not if he's gay....

Goodness, what is wrong with some people.!!!

Not one of you have ever towed the line. Not one...!!!

But you have the nerve to threaten someone else's salvation?

Condemn another to hell...?

By this reasoning then, Jesus was married.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1326056

That is a really good point, and I as a Christian am not averse to the discussion of whether or not Jesus was married. If He practiced what He preached, then by all means, He should have been married. I don't know if the DaVinci Code is at all correct, but Christ being married is certainly not a game changer for me. If anything, it provides me even more conviction in my beliefs.
 Quoting: Rising Son

Perhaps he was a eunich like others of his time, but in His case by choice? So that He would be more free to go about His Father's work? Even Paul talked about this when he was discussing marriage and the rules of marriage and divorce.
 Quoting: Lady Wolf

If by Eunuch you mean a celibate man, then I would assume that is the understanding by a majority of Christians today. It is hard to say, because the DaVinci Code brings up several good points, and when you couple that with the fact that early Christian priests were allowed to marry, it's hard not to wonder if Jesus was in fact married - and they chose to take that point out of the bible at the Council of Nicaea.
 Quoting: Rising Son

Yes, celibate. I suppose any thing is possible. Wasn't it true in Jewish culture at that time that for a man to not marry, it was considered a sin? I thought I remembered reading something about that once.

It just doesn't make any sense to me from a completely secular viewpoint. Why is it that we have AA meetings for alcoholics, and we lock up other deviant behavior, either in medical institutions or prisons. Why is it that we look the other way and even toute homosexuality as not only normal but equal to heterosexuality? Everything else, we view as a need to change it, end it, control, it, punish it etc. Yet this one thing we look the other way?

Each one of those passages was either taken out of context or mistranslated to fit the purpose of the one purporting their agenda. This is a very important issue that has somehow been designated as "off-limits" for debate, despite the enormous opposition to it. Transgenders, transvestites, homosexuals, no matter what they want to call them - NEED HELP. I've never seen another individual champion and broadcast their mental illness out of pride, so why would those with gender identity disorder? It's truly unfortunate, because there are so many that are being hurt in the process. They are being used like pawns by others who care nothing for their welfare, but use them to perpetuate their agenda.

Continued in Matthew 19

10 His disciples said unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."

In other words . . . Jesus explained homosexuality was a natural occurrence, a GIFT.

Bumping uglies is a different story!
 Quoting: Jeremiah 24508494

A eunuch (pron.: /ˈjuːnək/; Greek: Ευνούχος) is a man who (by the common definition of the term) may have been castrated, typically early enough in his life for this change to have major hormonal consequences. Less commonly, in translations of ancient texts, "eunuch" may refer to a man who is not castrated but who is impotent, celibate or otherwise not inclined to marry and procreate.

In other words you are wrong about the definition of eunuch

No, I didn't read all the way through each of them. I made my mind up after the first couple of paragraphs when the author uses conjecture, misdirection, and mistranslation to prove their point. In addition, the author drowns this in an inordinate amount of literary fluff, so that it appears to give the idea that they really know what they're talking about. I could be wrong in generalizing about them, but what I know is this: I have read the bible myself, I have come to my own conclusions, and I believe what I do based on what the Holy Spirit guided me to believe when I read those words. If someone had a different experience than I did, then they are not experiencing the same Holy Spirit that I experienced.

No offense to you OP - but there was no mistranslation (in fact, if you study Greek, you'd see it was spot on) - and the supposed conjecture and misdirection you felt was there is not obvious to one who has studied ancient civs for a number of years.

I'll bow out of this thread now... this is not a discussion, this is an "I'm right and you're wrong" type of thing seeking to pass judgement.

Re: Jesus Christ Preached Against Homosexuality, But He Also Said Not To Judge Others
Are you OP, a closeted homo? In my opinion you must be. Why? You sit here typing all this bible blabble saying how Jesus preached against homos. Yet while you're typing your hatred for these people, you're thinking of them at the same time. This is the problem with christians and other religious fanatics. You people automatically judge others for what they do. If they're not directly causing problems in your life, why are they constantly on your mind? I too think that marriage should be with a man and a woman, but that's my choice. If others choose to do the opposite, then that friend, is their choice. It may not be right, but that is what they choose If it's not causing problems in my life, I don't give a damn what they do with their lives.

Bible verses from your own book that you people always seem to forget, or just choose to ignore.

1  Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2  For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Mk. 4.24
3  And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4  Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5  Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6  ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Re: Jesus Christ Preached Against Homosexuality, But He Also Said Not To Judge Others
What is it that bothers people so much about homosexuality? Seriously. Penis into vagina vs. penis into butthole. Or penis into mouth. Or whatever. Who cares?

There are so many places to start. Jesus also says "judge not lest ye be judged." Jesus said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

You people forget the real tenets of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Plus, here's the bottom line:

This is fucking AMERICA, bitches. If you don't like gay sex, then DON'T HAVE IT. But that HARDLY gives you the right to deny gay people the right to marry other gay people. If you don't like gay sex, go to fucking Saudi Arabia where they behead gay people and you'll fit right in. You people talk all this shit about the Muslims and the ironic part is, without a language barrier and an ocean separating the two cultures, you two would find you have A LOT in common with one another.

And just to drive the point home, the people who speak out against homosexuality the most are usually the ones who get caught in public restrooms having gay meth-fueled sex. Need I state the obvious?

Go fuck yourselves and your bigotry. Jesus would be crying if he heard how self-righteously judgmental you all are - and all in His name, no less.

OP, I do understand you're quite opinionated about this topic, and of course, that's your business :).... but, each one of those cited discussions go into great detail about the context and translation of those passages. You did read them?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21363812

 Quoting: Rising Son

No offense to you OP - but there was no mistranslation (in fact, if you study Greek, you'd see it was spot on) - and the supposed conjecture and misdirection you felt was there is not obvious to one who has studied ancient civs for a number of years.

I'll bow out of this thread now... this is not a discussion, this is an "I'm right and you're wrong" type of thing seeking to pass judgement.

Have a wonderful evening :)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21363812

I really wish you'd stay and debate whatever you felt was inaccurate or worth debating. I'll jump into what I found was inaccurate with that site:

The use of the word "eunuch" was taken out of context, in that Jesus was referring to those who choose a life of celibacy as well as those who are unwilling/unable to procreate. If you look at the context of the discussion between Jesus and His disciples, as well as the words used to describe said "eunuch", this makes sense. However, to simply assume that Jesus was referring to homosexuals as "eunuchs" is not only irresponsibly naive, but exclusive to the entire discussion Jesus was having.

The story of Jesus going to heal the Centurion's servant is just plain wordplay, and is a perfect example of misdirection. The author attempts to exaggerate what can be described as a very important servant into a gay lover of the Centurion. Just for the sake of argument - let's say the Centurion and his servant were in fact gay. How is it that Jesus healing the Centurion's servant in any way an affirmation of their homosexual proclivities? The Centurion showed great faith in Jesus' abilities by asking for His help, and that is the reason Jesus chose to heal the servant.

These are just two examples of how the website you referenced perverts and distorts the teachings of Jesus Christ to fit their purpose and agenda. When you approach anything without an open mind and with a purpose in tow, then it stands to reason you will not understand that which you are attempting to use for your own personal gain.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." - Revelation 21:4

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34900904

So you're saying that homosexuality is a choice because you live in America and it's not a birth defect then? And please do not insult my intelligence by saying that this does not affect me. Please scroll up and read my previous answer to this.

You clearly have not read through my entire original post nor the entire thread before posting. I ask that you do that before stating your case about how I am not to judge. By the way, the 'closet homo' accusation is childish, almost like saying "I know you are but what am I?" I am married with five kids, I need no validation from you.

Pro 30:5 Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Says the guy that talked to God. What do you not get about that? The Bible was written by people who claimed to talk to God.

I can sit here all day writing anything I want and claiming it came from God.

Re: Jesus Christ Preached Against Homosexuality, But He Also Said Not To Judge Others
Jesus is more concerned with the adulteration than the sexual immorality...

See it's silly to have two of the ten commandants dealing with the fucking of another mans woman...

U ain't even supposed to covet one let alone fuck one...

That's ur first clue...

The second is that Jesus convinces the Pharisees to let the woman go.. When normally she would be STONED TO DEATH...

The Pharisees were a bunch of assholes who wanted nothing more than a good stoning...

But they fucked up see...

They thought Jesus wouldn't know that adultery has nothing to do with fucking and everything to do with adulteration...

Like all the stupid ass ppl today... But luckily for that woman, if the story is even real, there is massive debate... Luckily for her Jesus knew his bidness...

He said well if there is anybody here not guilty then go ahead and throw... But what he is saying is that ok, u want to enforce the law, then lets enforce it...

And then they tucked tail and runnt off... Why? Because they had sinned? That is like saying a judge wouldn't punish a criminal cuz knew he was guilty of speeding...

No no no...

They slunk off beaten... Because they knew the law... And they knew they were guilty... They knew if they stoned that woman they were opening themselves up to the same punishment...

Hint: they weren't all guilty of fucking wives...

And Jesus was totally down with the gay crowd...

U think a brightly colored toga and a lisp would confront a man who chilled with lepers?
Lepers.... Think about it...

I know this video has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I just heard it for the first time and wanted to share it with you all. I figure it's a nice calming song, and might inspire people to use less hate and more understanding in their responses and posts:

I don't know you and I don't know your life story, so I am taking a shot in the dark here. If I am off target, please let me know. How do you know that what you are feeling for other women is love, and not lust? Those two things are very different as I'm sure you would agree with, but they determine whether it is your heart that is yearning for other women or your head.

It's the evil system of civilization that is the cause.

Or do you all pay the rent to GOD?

Civilization is a lie all think is truth until the demand for power to sustain the war against Truth is not supplied.

Then the lie is revealed.

It's why civilizations that try to defeat GOD collapse.

Which has been every civilization that has ever existed...All evidence points to this.
