One-Foot of Snow for DC, Philly, NYC! Major Nor'easter Overnight model runs continue to show the possibility of an east coast winter storm next week, around March 5-7. Quoting: DoorBert The map below is from an American model and depicts a storm gaining strength off of the Carolina coast. [link to sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net (secure)] Big questions remain: will it move to the north, will cold air remain, and will the storm intensify as significantly as some models say it will. We'll probably have a better idea of how the situation will evolve this weekend; until then, we'll continue to examine data to make an accurate prediction. In the meantime, residents from Virginia to New York City should continue to monitor this possible storm. It has the potential to be a big one. While this storm could be big, it could also be the season's last. Most long range models say spring weather will arrive....perhaps for good...come the second half of March. One-Foot of Snow for DC, Philly, NYC! Major Nor'easter Accu-Weather Met: Quoting: DoorBert ECMWF surface and precip for Wed eve. It has a DC special with a foot of snow GFS trend is to come north like the ECMWF with major Nor' easter along the coast. [link to twitter.com] Nice! We've only had 2" in DC to date. My New England bones say "Bring it on!" Hot chocolate and marshmallow time! I don't mind the snow, but I live on a corner lot with a sidewalk that goes from the front of my house, along the side and along the back. I have to pay someone to clear the snow. Then the township snowplows shove the snow from the street back onto the sidewalks. The police come along a day later, tape a warning onto the front door that says you'll be fined if your sidewalk isn't cleared within 24 hours. I see...at the most...one person a day walking on my sidewalk behind the house, and they're walking a dog. Other than that, snow is beautiful. lol Last Edited by nutmeg on 03/03/2013 08:04 PM |

One-Foot of Snow for DC, Philly, NYC! Major Nor'easter boston and south should keep an eye on this storm some models are trending further north, but this is still looking mostly like a mid Atlantic storm as of right now,but that could change quite easily the long range actually looks stormy and cold with the current blocking pattern reloading around mid-month,the east coast probably sees another storm around the 18-24th of this month and if it comes to fruition it'll most likely be a big one.. |

Kinda makes you want to stand out and vector the snow plows to the other side of the street! Lots of luck. It will probably be a heavy wet snow which will be tough to shovel. Hang in there! |

One-Foot of Snow for DC, Philly, NYC! Major Nor'easter Here you go Jay... We have set up a storm page so you can track the latest information on this Winter storm. You can find the storm page here. A new Winter storm (even though Meteorological Spring started March 1) will sweep out of the Northern Rockies and into the Northern Plains later today and into Monday. The storm will then move into the Midwest and Ohio Valley Tuesday before strengthening considerably while moving off the Mid-Atlantic coast Wednesday. The track is well-represented in the latest Snowfall Forecast through Wednesday as a swath of snow is expected from the Dakotas through West Virginia and Virginia. The largest amount of snow is anticipated in the Appalachians of West Virginia and Virginia, where over two feet of snow is possible. Elsewhere, over a foot of snow will be possible in the Ohio Valley and Minnesota. [link to classic.wunderground.com] |
