James (Jim) McCanney:
"imagine the USA with riots in the city streets and no bat man to save you … it's coming … the things you are going to need are on my sales page."

McCanney uses the fear he generates from his theories to sell survival equipment, including water filters, non-GMO Corn seed, and an emergency sun-star clock.

Man, don't be so fool. You can't take 3 lines of an incomplete phrase to decide if somebody is good or bad.
 Quoting: glauco

You've seen I can.

McCanney's web site have more then 4gb of information regarding his scientific work
 Quoting: glauco

Wow - does that mean that I'm more reliable when I have 5gb?
The size of a webpage don't say anything about the reliability of the page.

What I have read from his page is simple utterly bullshit.

he edits and publishes his own books for decades
 Quoting: glauco

No, he is making money by frightenig his readers since decades.

taught Physics, Astronomy and Math at Cornell for years, *HE IS* a scientist, an independent scientist who have no doubts about his science
 Quoting: glauco

He was a lecture at Cornell in 1979 and 1980. A scientist? At best a pseudo-scientist.
From his page regarding the close approach of C/2012 S1 (ISON) with Mars:
"Mars is gonna slow down in it's orbit, it's gonna drop into a lower orbit, and potentially come much closer to Earth."
Really? Wow - McCanny proves Newton, Kepler and Einstein wrong.
Simple orbilal mechanics: To bring Mars closer to the sun (and earth), you have to speed it up. A slow down would bring it into a higher orbit.

May be he taught Physics, Astronomy and Math for 3rd graders.
Btw, can you give any reliable sources, eg from Cornell, abot what he taught?

and you bring three lines of an incomplete phrase to tie your ideas about him?
 Quoting: glauco

This three lines describe McCanney quite well.

Man, you are totally out of your mind, that's not the way it works.
 Quoting: glauco

The way it works is to reference your claims. Where is your reference?

Besides that, he hosts a weekly radio show *with no commercials*
 Quoting: glauco

That proves his honesty? Every idiot can make a radio show today. And I wouldn't ran a commercial on a dubious radio show, so do others.

and also finances his own researches, which he does literally around the world.
 Quoting: glauco

Like his "The Harrington Expedition" in March 2003 to South America? Funded by donations he collected and that came out as a holiday trip exploring Mayan ruins?

What do you imagine, that Professor is getting rich selling some books and water filters?
 Quoting: glauco

"Professor" James McCanney? Can you give any references to his professorship? At least I couldn't find any - au contraire.

What do you imagine, that Professor is getting rich selling some books and water filters? Do me a favor please, he needs to pay for his show and his researches by himself, he needs the money, and to be honest, you really cannot find his items anywhere else in the world, and *everybody* needs a good water filter. No doubts about that. He would gain a lot of more money doing traditional science or working in private companies than selling books or water filters! Use your head, man!
 Quoting: glauco

At least he has a living from selling his crap. Oh wait, after the Mayan-Doom fail and Planet X No-Show it seems he has some difficulties.

Do me a favor please, he needs to pay for his show and his researches by himself, he needs the money
 Quoting: glauco

See "The Harrington Expedition" above.

and to be honest, you really cannot find his crap anywhere else in the world, and *everybody* needs a good water filter. No doubts about that.
 Quoting: glauco

Fixed it for you. Btw: I know how to purify water without a "good water filter". Do you?

He would gain a lot of more money doing traditional science or working in private companies than selling books or water filters! Use your head, man!
 Quoting: glauco

Yeah, sure. I'd do like hell and employ a "scientist" who doesn't know planetary mechanics, who states comet Hale Bopp developed into a planet or who takes the coma of a comat as the nucleus.

Also, regarding your cosmophobia link, anybody who have patience to listen to some of the previous thirteen years of radio shows on Professor's McCanney web site or have 60 dolars to buy all of his books will rapidly realize that Cosmophobia's author never read two lines of McCanney's work. Among a lot of other errors regarding Professor's work that the author wrote there, he states McCanney as pseudocientist.
 Quoting: glauco

If the Cosmophobia author never read two lines of McCanney's "work", how can they quote? They are quite familiar with his "work". Even 1 dollar would be to much for his outdated crappy books about Planet X and the Mayan doom date. And what else is McCanney as a pseudocientist (at best)?

Man, how could a pseudoscientist to have dozens of scientifical papers published by NASA, Cornell and Harvard and participate as a guest on scientific meetings all around the world? Do me a favor, man!
 Quoting: glauco

Reference to his "scientifical papers" published by NASA, Cornell and Harvard and to his "scientific meetings" all around the world.

Also he states that Professor McCanney and Phil Plait has had "crossed swords" a couple times what is a big lie! Professor *never, ever* had debated with Phil Plait, actually Professor had a debate with Phil's Plait boss, the actual director of NASA, Mr. Charles Bolden in a radio station fifteen years ago and Charles has had *lost* the debate. Nobody else from NASA never has had a debate with Professor since then.
 Quoting: glauco

So Phil Plait never crossed swords with McCanney? Shall I look for the transscription of the debate on C2C? It's quite entertaining and left McCanny with egg on his face.
Some readings obout this:

Not only the Cosmophobia page, the Phil Plait's page have so many lies and misinformation regarding McCanney's work that I cannot even start writing it here.
 Quoting: glauco

See above.

I believe you have a very poor background in research or is a very bad intentioned person to hold a so important flag without a minimum set of informations and good sense. Tks God that you are not a scientist in any area.
 Quoting: glauco

As a science journalist I have a quite good background in research and especially in cross checking the results - somthing you definitely have a lack of.

Yes, times are hard for the McCanneys, Masters and Lieders after the Maya-End-Day-Doom-No-Show.
It's hard for them now to sell their ideological and physical crap.
So they send their last believers to conspiracy forums like GLP to look for new victims, to sell their crap or to accquire new members.

Since one month there is a significant increase in ZetaTards, promotors of Marshal Masters videos and McCanney supporters.
They com to GLP like the flies to a pile of shit.
(So I'm not suggesting, GLP is a pile of shit)
