COMCAST is gonna "hijack" your internet!!
[link to www.informationliberation.com]

Comcast revealed today how it will deal with customers who receive multiple warnings under the newly launched “six-strikes” anti-piracy system. After four alerts the ISP will “hijack” web-browsers of suspected serial pirates with a persistent pop-up notification, making it impossible to browse the Internet. The pop-up will disappear after the customer “resolves the issue” with a Customer Security Assurance professional.

In common with other ISPs, Comcast will start out with friendly alerts informing customers that their account has been used to share copyrighted material. After four warnings, repeated offenders will then enter the “mitigation phase” during which their service will be interrupted.

Comcast has chosen a browser “hijack,” making it impossible for customers to browse the Internet, but without interrupting VOIP and other essential services.

Start reading up on how to set up proxies on the torrent clients. Another way is to use VPNs. Both are pretty simple with a little reading.

I think Internet data is about as protected as cordless/cellphone calls, which is not at all. Anyone with the right technology can listen to those calls without breaking the law.
I could be wrong, but I think it's kind of the same thing, unfortunately.

The only problem with VPNs is that a lot of them only let you use a limited amount of bandwidth.

You can pay a little bit each month to get unlimited though. It's usually around $5-$15. Well worth it imo.

If I EVER get one of these from my ISP, I will immediately cancel my service, never pay another dime to them, AND sue them in court for breach of contract.

VPN is the way to go.. My favorite is HideMyAss, which works out to about $6.55 a month and offers the highest level of security (govt level), works on both my Mac and PC, and even works on my iPad! Check it out, thousands of IPs from many countries, unlimited data, torrent-friendly, tons of awesome features:

^^^^^ This! There are thousands of public domain torrents, like old movies, new bands putting their stuff out to gain a following, etc. However, I don't like the idea of my ISP "data mining" ANY of my online viewing/purchasing/downloading habits, so that's why I use a VPN. I can also access content that's country-restricted as well... Not sure of the legality of that, but it feels like censorship to me...

Excellent point! VPNs help people access the truth instead of whatever the govt wants them to know in countries where censorship is prevalent.

looks like comcast will be the first of these 'too big to fail' isps that finds out what happens when several million subscriptions evaporate at once. this is great for competition, give smaller isps some breathing room and space for growth.

Seedbox with SSL encryption is your best bet....majority of proxies suck and with more shit like this going on the harder it will be to find good ones.

5 years ago I could scan 400,000-500,000 proxies and get 200,000 LVL1 5Sock and have most work....now I can scan a million and MAYBE get 100-200 of them (which die within days)

this is a good VPN, they only keep logs for one month if you pay monthly but they /say/ if you pay for the yearly one they keep no logs, hard to tell but they offer like 50 servers to hop on, i guess they keep logs for the one month one incase of carders and such try to hide.
