Quoting: Super Bowl Dave I don't have to worry about this because I don't steal anything off the internet! How do you "steal" off the internet? How do you "pirate" something, and how would they know? If you don't hack into something, then what is illegal except porn? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35374095 My bill is WAY lower, plus the speed is about the same! The upload speed is a little slower, but I don't mind. Comcast is assholes - switch to CenturyLink or other provider. Agreed. I was happy to get rid of Commiecast and have been with CenturyLink for over a year now... 15 megabits down for less than I was paying before for not even half that speed! |

OCD Chaos Theorist User ID: 29524680 United States 03/02/2013 06:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have lived a lot of years during my life without internet. I'm pretty sure I can do it again. I don't bitch and whine like the 99%; I take action. We're dealing with corporations. When gas got too high; I stopped driving as much. Cable television tightened the screws; cancelled. Food started getting too high; I started growing my own. They want our money and we shouldn't just give it to them. They should be forced to earn it just as we earn ours. I wish I had more time so I could do even less. |

I mean they provide a service of which they are stopping you from using - doesn't that mean they cannot charge you unless you agree? So what's copyright material? who determines this? Do we get a list? or is it up to them? the company who's taking your money to provide a service? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1330824 United States 03/02/2013 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its not just Comcast its all of them... The best part is how they didn't at least warn the public. They did with analog going out, Commercial Volume, light bulbs, Cds etc. The company's can not do anything about it. Other then the warnings. People are taking the reeducation out of proportion; it will merely be a Page of info telling you what your doing is wrong and educating you on the subject... (like a ToS) and then ask you to sign (confirm it) it. The worst they can do is slow down your speeds. The worst part about this is... After the multiple warnings and the slow period they can send the records of your repeat offenses to the Gov or supply it on request by them. Which they can then use to legally prove you are pirating. There was a mother who left her P2P on overnight once after downloading a song. Because of all the people downloading from her while she slept (because she forgot to turn off) she was sued for over 200k... Funny how lots of these stories don't get out. This is in a way more invasion into our privacy. Services that used to be working for us, now own us... Its funny that people are still a sleep. One might think that companies are merely finally getting their justice but its worse then that. You're being made into super slave; far worse then before. This is merely another notch on the belt of whats coming. Your forced to buy from monopolies, which can now have you sent away or take all your money, Look at the phone unlocking thing... Corporations are tightening their grip on the people... Instead of offering goods for your hard earned money like the old days, now they dictate and control your use, possession, etc. Its all upside down. They are not your friends. Look at how they told banks they couldn't overdraft people... Congress passed the new laws for them and they already found a way around. Business as usual; to big to fail. Welcome to America a Gov for the Corporations, by the Corporations. |
Tea Party Hobbit User ID: 16183382 United States 03/02/2013 06:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | how did u recieve it? what did it say. can u get one for watching something on youtube or do you actually have to download something? It came in my email - first warning. I believe it was because I was seeding a television episode. From what I understand it's not the downloading that's the issue - it's the uploading, or seeding (I could be mistaken about this). It just said that the station - Cinemax - had informed Comcast that I had illegally torrented and that I should stop. |
HypnoSlaveDoll User ID: 34621580 United States 03/02/2013 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm curious as to how the torrents are vetted as being illegal- as one poster mentioned, there are thousands and thousands of legal torrents... What would happen if you, say, downloaded a bunch of silent films that are in the public domain, then got hit with warnings... Would you have legal recourse if falsely accused or "punished" by having your bandwidth limited? It was stated that you can appeal any one of your "six strikes" for a $35 fee, so does that mean if some knuckle-dragging cubicle-dweller at Comcast THINKS the torrent was illegal, you get the privilege of paying $35 to prove that it isn't? Shouldn't the burden of proof fall on the ISP? This could get very interesting, and most likely result in epic failure and loss of revenue and lawsuits for the ISPs involved... |
