Interestingly, but off-topic, in the first episode, Sharpe's Rifles, is where I first heard the name Rothschild. He (Nathan) was crossing Europe with a bankers draft for Sir Arthur Wellesley, to fund the army.
Back on topic though, it could be that the CIA are deliberately bringing in a new front, in order to set the whole middle east alight! I think, given their past record, it is likely!
