Your egr valve is dick all. If it was that then you would hear it constantly popping up and down as it struggles to do it's job.
If you want to replace it, grab a socket set and go to the wreckers. They usually go for about $5 if you remove yourself and an easy replace, just undo two bolts and disconnect two lines running into it, they just pull off.
Is it a dodge?
Might be a leak in the plenum gasket if it is. Had to deal with that a few times.
If you've done the head gasket, lots of times plenum gasket is ignored or not even considered, unless your intake plenum pan is one welded unit.
If so you may have a cracked manifold.
Tape some of those pompom plastic strings to a chopstick or something and carefully and slowly move it around engine until you see movement.
