IF they are going to or from work, church activities or traveling in from out of town, they are exempt from this. BUT, they have to take the most direct route home. A juvenile can be with a person over the age of 18 BUT it's one adult per juvenile. So even as a parent, I can't be out with my daughter & her fiance' walking the dogs after 11:30, even if he has his moms permision to be with us. vaccinefreehealth blogspot com The risk far outweighs any benefit as the risk will vary from child to child. facebook.com/graphixyourway |

I'm 44 and to my knowledge there has always been a curfew for minors in Nashville TN. When I was in highschool in the 80's I remember having to be back home before 11pm. A curfew for minors is not the same thing as one for adults. Any parent should be setting curfew for their kids regardless of what the local city ordinance is. My parents curfew for me was 10pm and that is what it will be for my sons when they are old enough to drive. There is no good reason for a minor to be out at all hours of the night especially during the school year when they have to be back in class early the next morning. Are you under the age of 17 and living in Miami Dade County? I don't see a problem with this law when you know that area and the gang problems it has.... Lots of kids in their early teens running around until all hours of the night with no parental supervision whatsoever.... my daughter just got her learners permit and in this month she can drive at night now I have to be with her in the car to drive but what if she was a teen who was under the age of 17 out on the streets or in her car going to and from where ever and gets pulled over and they see her age and what arrest her? cause she out past 11PM Just read the article... It says your kid would be exempt from the curfew if he/she had a hand-written note from a parent or guardian... If you were concerned you could just give her a non-specific note and sign it at the bottom without a date.... What are the chances of her getting stopped or pulled over anyway? You have to understand that your average officer on patrol is not going to be concerned with finding and arresting law-abiding teenagers just for the hell of it. They don't get any pats on the back for doing that kind of crap and the paperwork and time spent off the street is not worth it to them when they could be making more notable arrests... The curfew law is designed to discourage teens from hanging out on the streets and to give the officers some legal justification to deal with the 'problem' kids, i.e. the ones with no parental discipline/guidance at home and some of which have known gang affiliations who spend more time on the streets than they do in their own homes. |

Last time I checked 17 was still a minor in the entire country so there is nothing wrong with enforcing a curfew. When that curfew is upped to adults then we need to put an end to it. |

I don't have a problem with this at all. Give your kid a note if they are going out to prevent any problems. And if your underage kid is going out without your permission/knowledge then wouldn't you want the cops looking out for them? RatMan |
