Curfew hours enforced by police are 11 pm to 6 am Sunday through Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday from 12 am to 6 am.

Kids and even most adults don't need to be out at those hours much anyway.

Our town has kid curfew and we love it!
The neighborhood is quiet at night, less mischievous deeds are committed and fewer teens are having sex in our local park bathrooms like they were before the curfew.

Now the police can find the crack heads roaming around at night much easier, with fewer kids to monitor.

Curfews for minors have been around for decades. This is nothing new. What's new is the way the police in the USA now routinely brutalize people.

Curfew laws + the way police treat people nowadays = a tragedy for some kid just waiting to happen.

I would be terrified to be a kid out after curfew these days even if I had a note that exempted me.

There's a curfew in most every city for kids 17 and under. It's been that way for awhile now, this is nothing new.

I was lucky enough to probably be the last generation of driving down "School" street or your main street on Friday and Saturday nights. American Graffiti style, which Lucas based on Modesto, CA. There always was a car or two of beer drinking jokes or country folk. Small town, we all probably had shot guns and rifles but they never came out. Fisticuffs usually happened at 11:30, usually, seniors from one school provoking another school, so it was perfect with our 12:00am curfew.

Most kids had a 2 parent families, so no need for gangs to fill in the family/pack animal role.

Curfews for minors are nothing new.

To those who say "It's up to the parents", as far as I can tell, there isn't a whole lot of parenting going on in this country anymore. Most spend more time trying to be their kids' friends rather than their parents...if they bother with them at all.

I think about this and the more I think and say,.. toast them f**kers. Its the out of ccontrol gangs that are responsible for the majority of the crimes that are committed. Why should we suffer the dictatorship executive orders?

I say fuck your curfews. If I am not allowed out at night then you are not allowed out during the day.

Fuck them, what they should say is "I shouldn't be out at that hour" -- so don't go out at that hour. Some people go out at that hour ONLY BECAUSE those other people are NOT OUT at that hour. No offense, but some people are hazardous to my health, such as soccer moms, idiots, politicians, etc.

Young people recognise the umbrella that some fucked asshole law allowed them to break, but not pay the penalty. This is all of our atorcity, because we allowed it. The fix is "treat it universal regardless of age" and
don't let kids think that they have more power than adults.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but from what I remember and know, most places have a curfew for minors. I think it is a great idea. Keeps my kid off the streets and at home after 2200 in my town. I don't mind laws with some sanity behind them. Sorry. Just MY opinion.

been law around here for years, cops only enforce it as a last resort because they don't like the paperwork involved, lol.

it seems to work out, no one gets hassled unless your causing problems.

then if you get picked up, once the cop has all the paperwork done they call your parents to come pick you up at the police station - case closed, no charges, no court

These laws have never worked and is only used by cops to increase their overtime hours.

I have had curfews in my city for anyone under 18 ever since I was a little kid.

Kids that age should not have the need to be roaming the streets that time of night anyway. With NO responsible parenting in affect obviously actions like this need to be taken.

You are a dumbass who doesn't know what they used to be. Curfew was quite common in the past. It's not a start of anything... it's necessary because dumbass parents often don't control their children, children who don't have full rights.

Police brutality isn't new, either. It's been there since the first police force was made.

Then let us do away with the curfew. In it's place, since these kids are under-aged and legally under the parents guardianship, then we can arrest the parents anytime an under aged teen is out late at night committing crimes. If the parent is on Government assistance then they loose that assistance also.

Basically its a curfew for blacks and Cubans. Trust me, it is needed. Has nothing to do with police state. And if it does then by all means implement it there. Miami is a total poop hole.
