Anonymous Coward User ID: 35426802 Panama 03/02/2013 09:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And from my years of construction what about the floor joists connected to the plate of the foundation? that would prevent any matteress from fallin in also, it just doesnt sound right and makes no sense.. not sayin hoax but the way the story is told it just sounds like bullshit. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23351777 The story of 1 man being killed by a sink hole is not a small fib twisting the story just a bit. It's an orchestrated hoax. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 35392669 United States 03/02/2013 09:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | theory of mine under the homes here is sand if they had a drain pipe that was broken and leaking for years you wouldnt know unless you had a back up and black sand was coming up in your sink so if this drain was leaking for years could have washed away sand under the house it was his bed room so most likely there was a bathroom next to his room |

Concrete floors are poured around a steel rebar grid tied together so the entire floor behaves as one solid piece. If the ground gives way the floor stays intact. Even if the concrete crumbles the steel grid prevents a cave in. The story is a hoax. There is a chance that room could have been a add-on with a second slab poured at a latter time then it would not be connected to the main slab thus making this story possible . Anything is possible, that's how TPTB are able to convince the sheep to believe their official fables. You think Building 7 collapsing due to fires was possible also? Not a chance. |

That's how I know this story is bullshit. were you building homes back 40 years ago in florida? doubt it Yes and other parts of the country. You obviously don't know shit about construction. well I do a little and I have a personal experience with my own home and have photos of what it looks like under my home in 25 feet from the out side of my home |

They do use reinforcing wire mesh. A mesh-reinforced slab would sag, crumple and disappear into a sinkhole. Even if it were reinforced with rebar, once the soil base gives way underneath, it would fail. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 12247953 United States 03/02/2013 09:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Florida homes are slab on grade construction. There is no rebar present in the slab, only footings or piers. There probably is a wire mesh in the slab. If a sinkhole opened up, chances are that slab would not hold very long. The weight of the concrete alone would send it into the hole. News crews aren't allowed in the home because the area is unstable and probably to respect the family of the deceased. |

The facts are, there are NO signs of a sinkhole of the dimensions claimed by media. I studied geology at Southern Illinois University as well and there is just no evidence from where I sit in my living room. I can only deduct what I see on screen I wish I was there even though I guarantee they won't let you close for,"safety reasons", my ass. Also, why haven't there been any pictures of the hole itself. |

It gave way with a loud crash that sounded like a car hitting the house and brought Bush's brother running." If the concrete floor had rebar which is required by code then the entire house would have dropped in the hole, not just one bedroom. In fact the story of a sink hole swallowing just one bedroom is structurally impossible. Notice how there is no visible evidence of a sink hole from outside the house. What are the odds of that? I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday when I saw the report. No way just one room gave way. Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth. |

And you obviously don't know shit about the geological composition of Florida. The entire state sits atop a layer of sand, clay and permeable limestone. Underneath the limestone are massive aquifers that seep into the limestone. This acidic groundwater is what causes the dissolution of the limestone and thus the massive amounts of sinkholes in Florida. So is one considered a shill for acknowledging this simple fact? It's basic geology, not rocket science. It can be comprehended by young children, who are likely far more intelligent than those in this thread claiming this is a hoax. |
