You won't need to tie off anything. I did have to cut a few umbilical cords when my cat had kittens...the mom usually takes care of everything. What I have done with both my mom, cats is after they have the kittens put her and the kittens in a animal carrier overnight so she is forced to bond with them and not flake out. Then in the morning put her in a cozy hamper with some towels. If you can put her in a separate room with a litterbox and some water and food. Also start feeding her kitten food so she gets all the important nutrients she needs to feed them. Remember that kittens need a warmer temp so put them in a room with a small heater so the room is like 78 degrees until they are older. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

why won't you need to tie it off? I'm confused with that. I mean can't the kittens get infections or something if not tied? Sorry if I sound like an idiot my first time here lol

The box I posted about is in a separate room which is very warm like the whole house and also I got separate litter box for my other cat for when the kittens arrive. I will just put that downstairs somewhere for him with food and water :)

So the momma should be eating kitten food? I did not know that. Thank you for all the advice and for letting me ask more questions. added the kitten food to the rite aid list :)

Because cord blood is very high in clotting factors. I have just held a cord pinched together for about 45 seconds and it clots for small Yorkies. But cats are very private and protective and she will not want your hand on her babies so don't touch unless there is excessive bleeding or one is stuck.

And don't shake or sling the kittens to clear their airways as some suggest! If one if not breathing, hold it head slanted down on it's belly and rub with warm bath cloth and it will start to breath if it's going to. The most would be one of those little suction bulb syringes that are used on babies' noses.

Practice putting her in her box and tell her to put the kittens in there. You'd be surprised at how they eventually get the idea.

Oh I see you just pinch it. Wow... okay...well I went to the store and got my supplies anyway....but that makes sense now to me lol

I know I plan to wear gloves if I need to help out in anyway. I got a whole bunch of those doctors gloves.

The link that was provided from an ac on this thread...said the same thing about the warm washcloth and the suction syringe. I still have one from when my son was younger so that's good.

I have tried time and time again to put her in that box for days now. She goes in comes right back out. She follows me everywhere...right now she is behind me laying on the rug. I can't even go to the bathroom without here meowing to get in to me. So...I think she will go into labor with me around her. Just a feeling I got.

So now she has only eaten twice today and is drinking...but sleeping tons. Unless I move lol

I am keeping watch lol

Thank you Bluebird :)
