See what I mean? I mean, we all know "media" are low-accomplishing in regards to intelligence, maybe good at pacing their lines of script, but just plain stupid, but even this is insulting for the mildly entertained/interested.

At first, no one even questioned it. That's the part that scares me.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3560831

I agree, fake death symbolizing something - perhaps the imminent demise of old man Bush or the queen (heard she is ill this weekend).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35377425

Another thought. The day of the incident, headlines were saying there could be an economic IMPLOSION. The definition of implosion is 'a violent collapse inward'.

OP,

There has been much more information released concerning this sinkhole and do keep in mind that this area is not stable and growing in size. The grieving brother had to be rescued himself and was unable to see his brother as the ground was giving beneath him.

The victim Jeff Bush is presumed to be dead as air pockets in dirt is not a realistic scenario hence it is not a rescue operation instead only a recovery. They have sent in cameras, listening devices however the sinkhole is growing and the best time to rescue the victim was when his brother tried, and he saw no trace of his brother.

At this point rescue workers are not allowed into the area as the ground is too unstable and any effort would only result in more deaths that are senseless. You do understand that police and rescue workers are under no obligation to try to rescue you if the risks are too great to them. If you failed to understand the 2nd Amendment and gun rights now is the time to do some soul searching.

A simple web search would bring you to the conclusion that sinkholes are a common occurrence in Florida as in the case of several other states. At this point perhaps you should consider the rights and feelings of the victims and wait for the release of more photographs to appease your morbid curiosity.

Perhaps now is the time to do some research into how and why these sinkholes develop in certain areas.

Sinkholes

Sinkholes are a common feature of Florida's landscape. They are only one of many kinds of karst landforms, which include caves, disappearing streams, springs, and underground drainage systems, all of which occur in Florida. Karst is a generic term which refers to the characteristic terrain produced by erosional processes associated with the chemical weathering and dissolution of limestone or dolomite, the two most common carbonate rocks in Florida. Dissolution of carbonate rocks begins when they are exposed to acidic water. Most rainwater is slightly acidic and usually becomes more acidic as it moves through decaying plant debris.

Sinkholes

Sinkholes are a common naturally occurring geologic phenomenon and one of the predominant land forms in Florida.

Many of the lakes in Florida are relic sinkholes. Sinkholes can be classified as geologic hazards sometimes causing extensive damage to structures and roads resulting in costly repairs. Sinkholes can also threaten water supplies by draining unfiltered water from streams, lakes and wetlands directly into the aquifer (underground water supply).

Florida Water: Florida Lakes

Types of Lake Origins:
Solution (sinkhole) lakes- The most common origin of lake formation in Florida is by karst erosion, a chemical process that takes place when underground limestone is dissolved by carbon dioxide enriched water. Most solution lakes are a result of sinkhole activity and thus are circular, steeply sided and deeper than other Florida lakes. Shape irregularities develop due to adjacent sinkholes or additional subsidence. Solution lakes primarily occur in clusters. Examples are the many connected lakes in the Tsala Apopka marsh of Citrus county and Lakes Harris, Griffin, Eustis, and Yale of Lake County.

Once upon a time, there was a house with a big hole under it...
No one could see this hole, but everyone was told that they should be very afraid because it swallowed up a poor fellow in his sleep and took him to a bottomless pit.

(Seriously, no disrespect, but doesn't the whole thing just sound so bizarre?)

If this story disappears without the hole swallowing the house then it is a HOAX.

No need to speculate now. Just wait and see.

why demo the pad. why not let the hole swallow the shit and get it over with. It makes for better video to see it all fall in and sink to somewhere. So now what, they gonna evacuate the neighborhood and make it a sink hole pandemic where everybody looses and nobody has a home to go to and all their shitz gone too.

I heard on the radio news NYC CBS affiliate that next door neighbors were evacuated, but were allowed to return to the house today for a little while to retrieve any important, expensive, and sentimental items.

But, I guess it is too dangerous to try to take some photos with remote control RC Car, or RC plane, or duct taping a cellphone on the end of a 40 foot pole being held by someone in a boom-crane on a firetruck.

Contradiction? If the ground is stable enough to bring in heavy equipment to demolish the home, why isn't it stable enough to let them search and recover the body before the whole house crash down and dismember his "dead" body ?

Possibilities:

1. There is a hole. (Most likely)
A. ...but they don't want us to see it. (Why? )
B. ...but they can't get any pictures of it. (Unlikely)

2. There isn't a hole. (Unlikely)

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35429539

This one resembles several recent sink holes. What is unusual to me is this one, like those, is perfectly round.
This was engineered, maybe an ancient missile silo, storage facility, something like that maybe.
Time, earth changes, probably filled it, covered it, and hardened, but never like the surrounding bedrock.

This is ancient engineering. No doubt.

You guys yammering about the "no pics" need to pay a bit more attention to what you do have.

The North side of the house:

[link to www2.tbo.com]

Notice the odd lack of structural damage to the NW corner and the NE corner (NE is closest to the camera.)

And, the south side of the house.

[link to www2.tbo.com]

Again, no obvious damage to the SW and SE corners. Also, the spine of the roof does not appear to have any significant damage, yet one of the bedrooms has collapsed into a hole, and the load bearing walls seem to still be doing their jobs.

Quite odd in my opinion.

Something about this story just doesn't add up.

Sure, sink holes happen...
Yes, the grieving brother seems sincere...

But:
Why no photos?
Why no video?
Why no rescue workers entering the home?
Why no attempt at retrieving the body?
