Why are there no photos of the Florida sinkhole that swallowed the guy in his bed?

I wonder if there is a reason we can't be shown any shots from above (TV stations would have a helicopter there in about five minutes). Perhaps it would show a perfectly round hole in the roof?

David Brin wrote a great book called Earth. In it microscopic black holes generated by a CERN-like device are accidentally created and are on very high (or steep) elliptical orbits around the core of our planet. So they zip up out of the ground and go way out, then are pulled back, fall back towards the planet, and all the way through the planet and out again.

I think the size of the hole (assuming there is any hole at all) is too large for this scenario, but David Brin hadn't counted on CERN TRYING to create Stranglets, a form of matter we know almost nothing about, on purpose.

Maybe they succeeded?

I used to do a lot of caving and cave hunting. Good way to find and undiscovered or explored cave is to find an old sink hole and dig at the bottom for an opening into an intact cave system. Some were to filled with overburden and some opened into huge caverns or long tunnel complexes. If man fell into cavern and managed to not get smothered by overburden or drowned in an underground lake or river he could still be alive without light. Now travelling too far in those tunnels without light would likely be dangerous but it could be possible. If there was water down there he would be able to drink. Caves are full of crickets and other things that he could eat if desperate. Air might be fresh enough if another ventalation shaft from another sink hole wasn't too distant. Brother claims he heard him screaming for help. Drill a hole into that cavern and drop a camera and mike already cowardly rescuers. What if that was one of your family members down there.

Does Anybody else think it is strange that the guy who was swallowed up by the earth is named BUSH?

I knew this would be discussed here. my first thoughts were it seems weird the story. what r the odds of it happening under someone's bedroom.

my dad used to work in caves and he says this story doesn't pass the smell test.

The man whose brother fell into the sinkhole is on a video on CNN crying that he works two jobs and now he will have nothing and his child will have nothing.

Yeah, stupid bastards! I would assume the guy is still alive and living the good life in Middle Earth.

Usually when someone is buried alive and is not seen or heard from for more than a day, it's probably safe to assume the poor fucker is dead. Maybe that's just me though.

I have read reports the hole has "grown" to 60 feet deep. The man did not die instantly, according to the man's brother- who heard him "hollering" for help.

Was his bedroom floor dirt? How can a sink hole swollow his room without taking the floor/ joists which are tied in with the structure. This large a hole would have pulled in most of the house. Was there a basement?

What if this is merely a way to clean out a neighborhood for a development? Condemn and raze all the houses, then sell it to a developer to "remedy" the terrain and put in a development of some sort.

Think Kelo vs New London Connecticut with out all the messy time in court or the bad public relations...

Again, just letting the mind wander... no evidence one way or the other.

Say, for sake of argument, that there is not a real sinkhole there. What would be in that neighborhood that 'they' want it cleared out so badly? If they condemn the entire neighborhood or the town and make everyone leave? What is in that area?

Who would own the reclaimed land there?
