Unions are concerned with the well being and treatment of the workforce they represent, not the goals of the organization in which the workforce operates.

But I agree, government needs to remove itself from the private lives of its citizens, this includes during their education. But without some government oversight or you will have retards teaching religious fundamentalism in a very short period of time. But either way you will not find a 100% solution.

I agree with you 100 percent. What is the point of teaching a person how to teach but then they have never been out in the real world and done one thing productive to know what to teach?

Right now there are many Baby Boomers who are going into retirement. These people have skills and could be tapped to teach kids real things that they could use in the real world to make a living. But you will never see them letting in these people because they don't want kids to be taught anything that they could ever use to earn a buck.

True so true, field trips were common, now nothing worth mentioning.

If there were one the cost would run about 25 bucks per student, we are talking about 4th-5th and 6th grade students.

Lunches are prepackaged, very little of any lunch is consumed by the kids. When asked why, tasted nasty. Seriously each lunch is prepackaged and sealed.

I can remember years ago, burgers, hotdogs, tacos, pizza. None of these are even offered to these kids, there are no choices, the kid pays $1.75 for crap and white milk.

Most teachers seem to only care about making it through the school day, until summer vacation, until retirement.

But with so many non teaching positions at every school, no wonder no one cares when the vast resources are paying for non education purposes.

Do you have listening comprehension issues and/or critical thinking skills? He is saying school is not fun anymore and he is 1000% right. I know, I volunteer in my child's public school AND I homeschooled last year. My kids were pretty bored at times during that homeschooling year so they went out into nature (we had a multi-acre property) and used their imagination and observed insects, birds, etc and would actually come to me and ask me about things which we would then look up. They decided what they were interested in. Public school decides for the kids what they are going to "learn" (more like memorize for long enough to take the dang state tests)and this is a method proven not to instill a lifelong love of learning in a child.

I remember lots of field trips as a child. Now they do have few. In fact, some of my ONLY memories of some grades were of field trips and things like when my teacher read us The Hobbit. Kids get bored easily, they need to use their imagination and experience new things. I remember going to an egg farm. This would have been around 1982. I can imagine going to an egg farm today would be a traumatic experience for the kids. This whole country's gone down the toilet in every possible way. Now my third grader has to do homework on a website do that "the kids will do better on assessment exams which are given on a computer." Literally everything is about test scores. My daughter scores high, both of mine do (I have on in K and they get tested as well), but my brilliant third grader who used to draw all the time when we homeschooled rarely draws anymore and when the teacher catches her drawing during class she gets reprimanded. I talked to her teacher about this and the teacher admitted that drawing was my daughter's passion and and she was going to try to allow her to draw during class more often. Hey, that's a cool teacher imo. She came up with that, she's an older lady and probably disgusted herself with how she is forced to do things these days. Suppression and oppression. Suppression of their natural curiosity and talents and oppression of their need to socialize and to express themselves as individuals. Discipline is always an issue for teachers and I agree maby parents are lazy. Couple bad parents with a failing education system and you can see where this country is headed.

Don't even get me started on what they feed the kids.
