Quality made, inexpensive furniture?
Anyone know where you can find affordable furniture made of wood and not particle board, sofas, etc, bunkbeds, dining sets, any good websites/companies you can recommend?

I looked at Dutchcrafter's but unfortunately I am not wealthy enough to buy American-made furniture.

The best value is from independent furniture makers. It's still very expensive but at least you get good quality hand made. If you can't afford that just bang some scap lumber together till you can..

Why not hit up your local thrift store or craigs list...another alternative is an Estate Auction.

Some of the best furniture ever is handmade by the Amish. I have a few pieces myself. Amazing work and not to bad price range. You have any Amish around your area. I know a guy who knows a Amish guy who makes all sorts of furniture. Wish I could give ya more info. Good luck!

Re: Quality made, inexpensive furniture?
I recently moved to an apartment and I got excellent furniture from Ashley. Quality was good, the sales going on at the time were great, but I don't know if it's American made. It's very nice looking and has held up well.

lmao...I had to watch that again...it's been a long time. They are good hard working people. :) My father used to know this one Amish family very well from buying from them for years and years. He was even allowed into thier home and everything...had dinner with them a few times too! I had to wait in the car one time when I went with him while he got his stuff. I wanted to go in and see...but they just don't let anybody in thier homes... My dad said nope you got to stay in the car. lol

best bet is buying used.. quality furniture takes time, skill, and expensive wood to make.. you just can't find it for very cheap brand new. thrift shops are ok but they know how to price things accordingly.. your best bet is somebody trying to clear out some space selling on CL

This. Nice wood is now expensive.
Ikea's good, but tires quickly; wood just looks better with age, or you can refinish it in a modern stylee as you like, and fix it if it breaks.

I'm surprised by the quality of their furniture...solid wood and sturdy construction.

I wouldnt buy used furniture anymore.Bed bugs are everywhere it seems. There have been local news stories telling people they need to reconsider buying certain things at yard sales for instance.
